Paper Clips

November 3rd, 2008 @ 8:34 am by Mrs. Blush

We’re about a fourth done with assembling our invitations. I love how they came out, but I came across something wonderful that I might want to use for the rest of them!

PAPER CLIPS!

Okay, don’t panic! They’re not what you think! Well, let me explain why I am contemplating using paper clips in the first place. Our invites have five pieces- 1) the main invite 2) the second reception invite 3) directions 4) RSVP envelope and 5) RSVP card. However, we didn’t do pocketfolds so I can only imagine how messy they’ll be when our guests open them! So we decided to tie a ribbon around the bunch with a cute lace bow. The ribbon helps keep the five pieces together, but does not keep them completely aligned. SO, I searched around and came upon these…

Aren’t they adorable? (I SO can’t wait to use the house one for our open house party! and the Tooth one for patient folders!)

What do you think about decorative paper clips on wedding invitations? I realize they’re informal, but I really can’t think of anything else to keep our inserts together.

I had 4 pieces in my invitation and used a paper belly band. I put it on and glued it together at the ends after all the pieces were inside so it was a tight fit and kept everything pretty close to aligned. Also the rsp card gets tucked under the flap of the rsvp evelope so it was really 3 pieces.

I think paperclips are way too informal and I would be afraid of them tearing through the envelope.

I love creative paperclips. I have the Treble Clef ones myself, and my students always love when they receive papers back with them. (I later notice them clipped to binders and backpacks, which makes me smile!)

I love Vyeta’s idea, but I disagree that a paperclip is necessarily too informal. With these decorative ones, a metallic finish (so long as it’s not neon) should compliment your invitation suite. And as long as the paperclip lays flat, I don’t think that you have to worry about tearing paper.

Good on you for thinking of your guests!

I’d been looking everywhere for something like this - we had given up and decided on a pocket fold invite and staggered paper sizes.

But I love this idea for wedding - most of them are pretty informal, but the swirl (one of my favs) can work for a formal set too.

I like the idea. I think as long as it’s slim (so it doesn’t get caught in a machine) and somewhat fancy (like the silver heart) it would look nice! The paper band is another good idea too.

Very cute! I used a swirly gold paperclip that matched our invitations to hold them all together: http://bp3.blogger.com/_XnedgHCqPiA/SBU9Q8KNCLI/AAAAAAAAAnk/5sKIzdueURc/s1600-h/tiramisuopeninvite.jpg

I love the idea. I think their shapes and uniqueness makes them formal enough as an invitation addition. I hate how all the invitation pieces scatter when there’s not a pocketfold, so by all means, use them — your guests will think they’re very cool!

Since we had an online option for our rsvp along with rsvp postcards, I used a pretty swirly paperclip to affix a stamp to the postcard. That way if people decided to rsvp online, they could use the stamp on something else.

i think this is a great idea! a couple of them may be informal, but like tiramisu did some would certainly look dressy on a wedding invite like the swirl. very cute!

I went to Paper Presentation (www.paperpresentation.com) yesterday and purchased 300 silver swirly paperclips!! I tried them out last night, and they not only look great but no more insert chaos!

@Sezzy: How cute are your students?!?! & I’ll stay away from the neon ones! Although I doo love the 80’ss…..haha just kidding..NO neon for me :)

@Pengwen: Yay for swirly paperclips!

@Mrs. Tiramisu: Your invites look great! And your swirl goes so well with everything!

@Miss Dumpling: You’re so very welcome! Are you getting the swirly too??

Hmm…all this swirly talk makes me want to get some Pinkberry..swirly goodness anyone?
