I am an LDS bride attempting to plan a private religious ceremony, ring ceremony, seated reception for 100, and an open house while coordinating for guests flying in from across the United States and as far away as Poland. About Mrs. Avocado

First there was Popples. Then it was Jenna Nichole. There were many others, some forgotten, some lost, some remembered. Puckers kept me company in high school and through part of college. Green Bear did the job before the wedding.

Yes, it’s true.

Mrs. Avocado sleeps with a stuffed animal. Well, I recently upgraded to a little red pillow, given to me by junior bridesmaid Nay two years ago at Christmas.

But don’t let the fact that it’s a pillow fool you. It’s just a stand-in for a stuffed animal until I convince Mr. Avocado to give me something cute to sleep with when he is out of town on business each week.

It’s something about the way my arm sits against my chest when I lie on my side that makes me feel like I have to have it. I really planned on eliminating it once we got married. I figured that getting married would mean I had finally reached the point where I am a grown-up and would not need such childish things anymore.

So maybe I didn’t grow up. Or maybe it’s okay to hold on to a few childish things after you get married.

Do you have a “childish” secret to share?

This week, it just came up. When I was moving into my new home, I realized that I am petrified of being alone in big spaces. I was counting the hours until my family came back—especially when it got dark early! I am a big chicken!

I still have two teddy bears that I switch between. Often when I’m not using one, FI is using the other :)

I have a small stuffed bunny (given to me at birth) that sleeps in the bed next to me. I don’t need to cuddle it anymore, but the thought of putting her tucked away somewhere makes me sad. Eventually she will probably end up in the bottom of my pillowcase or something. FH doesn’t mind her either! :D I’m definitely with you, Avo, it seems childish, but I don’t care!

I still sleep with a stuffed animal too! My fiance and my family know I like stuffed animals, so every once and while I get a new one, and I change it out. I don’t have any plans to grow out of it :)

I have a pillow, too. Haha. And I totally play up the fact that it’s a PILLOW, not a STUFFED ANIMAL, which makes it okay. It’s not there because I am nervous to be alone. I just like it.

It’s true, I still sleep with stuffed animals as well! But just like you, my fiance and I have agreed that it’s just for sleeping comfort, not for sentimental value;)

I still sleep with baby blanket tatters… it’s actually not a baby blanket anymore, just the outside satin part of one (the inside has been worn and ripped out). My parents made fun of me throughout the years… “are you gonna still have that when you’re 10 years old? When youre a teenager? When you grad from High School? Gonna take it to college? etc…”

And yes, I brought it on my honeymoon. Can’t sleep without it, and won’t bother trying :)

omg POPPLES! i loved my dear old popple. who was eventually lost in a move. which honestly i think is my mom’s code phrase for “i got rid of some of your excess amount of toys.” sigh.

i have a bunch of stuffed animals on the end of my bed though i don’t sleep with them anymore. i do, on occasion when i’m really missing the bf, grab one of the many animals he’s given me and fallen asleep.

It’s not really a secret - I still sleep with my baby blanket (and my hubby). It doesn’t have to travel with me anymore like it did when I was a kid :) (I forgot it one time when I was staying with my Great Aunt for a week and my parents had to overnight it to me!)

My mom put a new backing on it at some point when I was a kid. It’s still holding together :)

I think it’s cause the fabric is a little cool - I like to feel it against my face. Plus I am sentimental like crazy!

If I’m not sleeping with my DH, I definitely need a stuffie to hug. It just doesn’t feel comfortable without one!!! And I’ve had the same stuffie for over ten years… and I totally have a whole crazy critter personality making him come to life too :$

I still sometimes sleep with my stuffed penguin that I got when I was a baby. DH thinks it’s really cute.

My husband works overnights. So this means that 5 days of the week, the bed is completely mine. And since I don’t like being alone, I sleep with my two teddy bears. One from when I was 5. And the other one I made with the hubby when we were dating. So it’s kinda like he’s there.

I honestly think I’ll sleep with my bears till the day I die. Haha! No shame!

I don’t sleep with a stuffed animal, but I still have all mine from when I was little (even a popple!). But my “childish” stuff is not so secret. I still watch Disney movies/cartoon movies. I still like Carebears (I have a Carebears pillowcase that is on my main sleep pillow) and I still have all my beanie babies.

:)

I don’t sleep with a stuffed animal anymore (although I think when I was younger I slept with at least three at a time, some nights more!) but I do have something similar. My pillow. It’s this horribly deflated feather pillow I’ve had for as long as I can remember, smells old, and I have to have a second pillow underneath it in order to get any kind of support! My mom actually tried to throw it away when I was 9, but I threw such a fit about it, she let me keep it. Now my fiance tries to take at night so he can sleep on it!
