Miss Champagne, DC/Vail/Colorado Age and Occupation: 26, Eye Doctor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Attorney Engagement Date: March 13, 2006 Wedding Date: February 2009 Blogging Since: July 30, 2008 Venue: Small church ceremony with mountain-view log cabin reception About Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…

Mountain Transportation

November 5th, 2008 @ 5:42 pm by Mrs. Champagne

I thought I would share with you some unique ways us “mountain folk” consider transporting guests, family, and the bride and groom to and from the ceremony. Even if you don’t ski, most of us are at least familiar with a typical chairlift. Although Champ and I won’t be venturing on the mountain (too cold in February!) I would LOVE for this to be a part of our wedding day. Who knows- maybe I’ll whip out the wedding dress this summer for a TTD photo on the mountain!

This groom is actually a friend of mine from home!(Frances Marron Photography)

I suppose I could snowboard in my dress! Perhaps at our day after shoot with my cousin.(Julie Robles Photography)

And of course, the “Just married” photo. You could also write “Thank you!” and send it out as a thank you card to guests!(Amy Carroll Photography)

How will you get from ceremony to reception? Have you seen any other unique wedding transportation ideas?!

My husband and I were in Steamboat Springs, CO back in June for a wedding and we got to take a gondola up the side of the mountain to get to the ceremony and reception site! So fun!!

You and Champ HAVE TO get a shot on the chair lift during the winter!!!!!! I know it will be cold as all heck, but it’s the quintessential we got married in Vail/Colorado/Rocky Mountains photo.

@Mrs. Cookie: it’s true… I think we’ll do it the day after.

We’ll be having a different method of transportation, in a way - our feet! The church and reception are only three blocks apart, and our honeymoon B&B for the first night is right in between the two. When we exit the church we’ll have sneakers on our feet, and we’re creating “Just” and “Married” signs to hang from our backs. We’ll depart with our ring bearer (dog) and take a few photos in these lovely spot right by our B&B before heading back to the church to finish up the family/bridal party photos.

Ooh the chair shots are gorgeous!! We seriously considered doing our wedding at a ski hill here in Vancouver called Grouse Mountain.. maybe it’s a good thing I hadn’t thought of chair and gondola shots as that may have swayed the vote. Your photos are gonna be so unique, Champs!

These pics look like fun! Although the bm in the first pic on the far right looks like she is afraid of heights! We live right next to the mansion we are having our wedding at…so we could probably walk…but i think we will just rent a nice convertable for the day!

LOVE the thank you idea! We don’t have enough time between the ceremony & reception to get a shot like that, but I really wish we did. Maybe we could do a reenactment!
