A Festive Anniversary

November 6th, 2008 @ 3:38 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

As I was driving to work this morning I realized that two anniversaries will occur on Thanksgiving this year - which, happens to be two days after my birthday - not that you needed to know, I just find that particularly important :)

Mr. H and I went out on Thanksgiving Eve in 2005 and we both, not purposely, made each other jealous by talking to the opposite sex. It was after this night out that Mr. H decided to kiss me - a night that I will never forget. Since we spent just about every single day together since that night, I consider Thanksgiving to be our pre-wedding anniversary.

This year, Thanksgiving just so happens to fall on the same day as our wedding, so we will not only be celebrating my belated birthday and Thanksgiving with our families, but also our three year “togetheraversary” and our two month wedding anniversary.

Have any of your anniversaries fallen on holidays and/or other special occasions without intention?

*One a side note - I think it’s only fair that you celebrate every month until you’ve hit the one year mark, then you can just celebrate your wedding annually :)

I found out after the fact that our [horrible!!!] first date was the day before his birthday…and our [much better] second date was the day after his birthday (work was canceled on account of snow).

Our first & second anniversaries will fall on Labor Day weekend, making travel a little more pricey if we choose to celebrate somewhere special!

Our birthday are a week apart, August 28th & September 4th, and always around Labor Day. We decided early on that we’d always do something special for Labor Day, so when we were deciding on a Wedding Date, I suggested Labor Day Weekend! Spring wouldn’t work for 2 accountants to get married anyway, so September worked out perfectly. We’ll actually be getting married the day after my 25th Birthday! Now, every year for Labor Day we can celebrate our birthdays and our anniversary in a very special way!

I totally think that you should celebrate every month for the first year, too! Up until we’d been dating for a full year, every month on the 9th I’d say to Mr. Cheese, “We’ve been dating another month! Shall we continue?” Then it turned into, “We’ve been dating x months… wanna do x months more?” It was a fun reason to celebrate the 9th of every month. We stopped doing it after a year, though, and I’m a bit sad about it. I think your idea is a great one!
