We Booked Our Honeymoon Today!

November 6th, 2008 @ 3:12 pm by Mrs. Blush

I just wanted to share that :)

Oh of course I’m going to tell you where! We Booked Our Honeymoon Today! : wedding honeymoon Winky04 winky04

We’re going to….

E-G-Y-P-T!!
& one day in Paris (but more about that in a minute).

It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to go to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Ok, so Egypt is not Qumran but I always wanted to do something incredibly “historic”. My FIL’s and some close friends visited Egypt and absolutely loved it. They were so enthralled by the history of the place, we knew Egypt was high on our list. Since we’re getting married in January, Europe would be too cold, and Tahiti was out of our budget. So today, we went to our travel agent and booked our ten-day honeymoon to Egypt! I can’t wait to read alllll about it and study every bit of it! (I Google obsessively.) In a few months, the Sphinx, Pyramids of Giza, Valley of the Kings, Abu Shimel, Luxor, Alexandria right in front of our eyes…Oh the glory!! Ahh! Ok so about Paris. Our travel agent informed us that we would have a layover in Paris, from Cairo to JFK, since Delta doesn’t fly direct that particular day. We realize it’ll be very cold in Europe, but seriously, a layover in Paris?!! Oh the TEEAASSEEE!! Mr. Blush could see my excitement and quietly asked me, “Hon do you want to stop by Paris?”

“Um YESSSSSSS!” So we’re doing it, 32 solid hours of Par-eeee! It’s going to be frigid, but I don’t care.

If you could add a second destination to your honeymoon trip where would it be?

Wonderful!

& it is never (usually) “freezing” in Paris in the winter…much milded than in some parts of the US. You’ll be fine!

Nice! I want to go to Egypt so bad. It’s one of my top 5 locations that I must visit before I die.

I wouldn’t mind going to Paris either :)

how great! I’m actually originally from Egypt (born there, raised here) and went for the first (yes, first) time to visit. It was definitely culture shock but the culture and the history is soooo prominent there!

you will love it. cairo is PACKED and very crowded… if you can, take a trip to alexandria (my favorite place) it’s right on the med. sea and many people love Sharm el Sheikh on the red sea (i snorkeled there and it was gorgeous)… do the 4 wheeler tour in the desert and make sure to head to the historical museum in downtown cairo. AMAZING! and there are real MUMMIES!

EAT ALL DAY! egyptian food is some of the best — but of course i’m biased :) … but be very aware they try and rip off tourists, so act like you know what you’re doing ;)

if you need any more advice, please don’t hesitate to pm me or ask… congrats, you’ll have a blast!

We threw in a stop in London en route to our Baltic cruise, and it was great. Two vacations in one!

Mr. B and I are huge foodies so we plan to check out a few Egyptian Restaurants here in NYC just to get a feel for it- we know we’ll love it though!

Thanks for the great advice!! I will certainly let you know if I have questions! xoxoxo

Ohhhhh, I’m so jealous. I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt. Well, to Jordan, but Egypt is a close second. :) Will you be riding a camel? Camping with Bedouins? Both of those seem cool to me, but I just know that I’d be nervous if I got to actually do it!

Miss Blush, can you tell me which travel agent you used in new york? we live in the city and need someone to help us figure out our honeymoon. I’ve been looking online for good travel agents and it’s been difficult to find someone that’s knowledgeable and capable. Please PM if that works better for you.

oooh, how fun!
i was in Paris last January. it was indeed cold (and rainy part of the time), but an excuse to bundle up was kinda nice. i was kinda sad not to see it in better weather, and we didn’t get to go up to the top of the eiffel tower because it would have been sooo cold! but, paris is still paris, and it’ll be a great time.
egypt sounds like such an interesting honeymoon spot. how exciting. :)
