Marriage in the Sky?

November 6th, 2008 @ 9:32 am by Mrs. Sea Breeze

I’ve seen some pretty out-there ideas when it comes to wedding venues, but this one takes the cake.

Marriage in the Sky is hosted on a platform, where 20 guests are strapped into aircraft-like seats and suspended at a height of 50 meters. As befits an exclusive venue, Marriage in the Sky can be customized to every couple’s wishes, including spectacular elements like bungee jumping off of the platform after vows have been exchanged. A second crane can be used to suspend another platform at the same height, making room for entertainment or more guests.

And if a ceremony 50 meters up in the air isn’t enough, you can also do the dinner up there.

It would definitely make for a memorable experience but, I dunno, it seems sort of complicated. I’m guessing there’s no dance floor, either. :-)

What do you think? Exciting and unique or just a tad too crazy? If cost weren’t an issue, would you do it?

No, I’m too afraid of heights. Like what if it become windy and the platform started swaying violently? Blurg. Not for me please!

I’ve never really thought I was scared of heights but for some reason this is really scary to me. Very interesting idea but I really wouldn’t want to attend a wedding like this.

One question … what happens if you need the bathroom?

The dinner one looks quite fun, but I don’t think I’d like to go to a wedding up there.

Hmm…interesting. Well, even if I wasn’t scared of heights, I think I wouldn’t really think to enjoy the view much because I would be looking at the groom during our vows. The dinner idea is kind of fun, but not for a wedding. And good que above…hehe..where are the bathrooms :-P

Definitely crazy & adventurous…I have to say that I think NOTHING is too crazy if the couple loves it :-)

I sent the dinner thing to my family saying I knew where we were going to have the rehearsal dinner! Everyone’s response was “Where are the bathrooms?!?”

oh my!! i would definitely be a big NO for this!! aside from being afraid of heights, the bathroom question, the loudness of the wind, etc. would keep me away.

i’m all for doing something different and being an individual when it comes to wedding planning, but this would just not be for me.

I guess whatever makes you happy… this would be great for a skydiving couple; people could join in their love of sky without actually having to take the plunge. Still, there have to be some serious straps going on there, and who wants to be buckled to the ground during your wedding? Call me traditional, but I only want to be focused on one thing during the ceremony: Boy.

As a former caterering employee I am not sure I understand how you get all the food and supplies up there for dinner.

This has to be one of the craziest concepts I have ever heard of. Who would want to do that?! I guess if that is want the couple wants then go for it, it would certainly be memorable.

I wouldn’t do it myself, but darned if I wouldn’t love to be invited to a wedding in the sky.
