Leave a Big Footprint?

November 7th, 2008 @ 1:28 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

I’m on the lookout for something that will leave a big footprint, and lucky for brides who share in my plight, there have been some sightings. No, I’m not talking about a sighting of this guy:

I’m talking about spotting some shoes for my fellow big-footed brides! Depending on the shoe, I usually wear a size 11, and I also have a rather narrow foot.

Because of this, I have such a hard time finding shoes that are:

A. A good fit

B. Cute

and, C. Affordable

I really can’t walk into a Macy’s or other department store and buy wedding-worthy shoes off of their racks. They just don’t carry my size. Places like Payless, Target, and Walmart do carry 11s, but the selection is usually pretty basic and, quite frankly, boring. So, I took to the web to find some online stores that cater to those of us who leave a larger footprint in life. Here’s what I found:

DesignerShoes.com has a great selection of sandals in larger sizes. This is one of my favorites:

CRISS CROSS BY AMANDA - on sale for $13.00 (Sz. 11)

(love the price!)

Dream Shoes doesn’t have a great selection of shoes suitable for a wedding, but I did think this pair might fit the occasion:

Moda Spana Mixy Silver

Product Number: C-MX-S, sale price of $74.99

Then, of course, there is always Zappos with their amazing selection and even more amazing return policy.

RSVP “Cherri” SKU #7404199

$65.00

Coloriffics “Desire” SkU #7350098

$80.00

Are you a big-footed bride like me? Where are you shopping for your wedding day shoes?

This is where that new Nordstrom you mentioned may come in handy. They carry tons of hard-to-find sizes, and if they aren’t available in-store, they’ll get them for you from other stores, so you don’t have to go traipsing all over. It would be worth a look, at least.

Hi DE,

There is a great website of shoes Barefoottess.
http://www.barefoottess.com/

I’ve gotten many a shoes from them. They tend to have higher priced designer shoes, but at the very least it is an option for us biggies as they carry sizes up to a size 14!

Good luck! Those $13.00 shoes are cute!

I also wear 10.5 or 11 & use PiperLime, Steve Madden or Zappos…(PL for my wedding shoes)…there are others out there, but unfortunately I didn’t save them, but my foot is not narrow, so I’m not sure how helpful this is :( good luck!

I also wear a size 11 & ordered mine from endless.com (love their return policy as well!).

I share your frustration in finding cute, narrow shoes in a size 11 or higher!

Big-Footed Bride here, too! I also wear a size 11. I second looking at Nordstrom. Mine (Cleveland) always carries a large selection in my size. Their sales associates are usually always very helpful, too.

Yay for other big foot brides!

@mrswhitetobe: I haven’t been to the Nordstrom’s since it opened, but I’m going to have make a special trip soon just to check out their shoe department.

@Chelsea: Thank you! I’ll check out that site, too!

I am a HUGE footed bride (size 12!!!), but I guess thats what you get when you’re 6 feet tall. At least I can reach the high shelves ;)

My godsend is http://www.endless.com ! its amazon.coms new approach to shoes and handbags. I am in LOVE! I believe they carry up to size 13 or 14 in womens and now I can actually buy the adorable nine west shoes I could never cram my foot into otherwise.

My fellow big footed brides should definitely check it out. If not for bridal shoes, then just stylsih shoes.

My sister was a big-footed MOH! Her shoe size is about an 11.5 and she also has a very wide foot. We found her shoes for my wedding on Zappos. Actually, she ended up getting the Colorifics Desire in ivory and they were very pretty and appropriate for the day. I would also check out Endless.com (I like their search program better than Zappos’).

Good luck!

I also wear an 11 (or 12 depending on the style) and have found 3 places that are my go to places when I need shoes. First and foremost I go to Nordstroms. They have a good selection and amazing customer service. I just go in and tell them what I am looking for and they will bring out their selection for me to try on. And if they don’t have it in my color or size, they will order it for me. Second place I head to is the Nine West store. They usually have several styles in 11 or 12 for me to try on. If I can’t find it there, I head to Zappos. I am excited for the other suggestions put up on the board. Good luck!

i’m a size 10 and i swear by Nordstrom. and man, do i feel your pain: although most places carry size 10s, they’re also too narrow through the middle for my flat ol’ feet. i’m trying to find shoes right now and i’m to the point of giving up and just wearing flip-flops.

I’m 5′4″ and have size 10 feet! My feet are also very narrow so shoe shopping is h-e-double hockey sticks for me.

I’ve had alot of luck at DSW, only because there are so many different brands. I tend to stick with kitten heels but just bought a pair of Nine West stilettos that fit perfectly.

Happy shoe hunting!

Good luck! I used to wear an 11AAA, I am just down to an A and sometimes I can wear M if I can put inserts in them. I went to a place called the Walking Store and found an adorable pair of mary janes that I didn’t have to break in. No luck with cute shoes, though. I think they are far to painful to wear. Naturalizer is pretty good, though.

I’m from the Pittsburgh area too! I just thought that I would pass the word about Riyers shoe store in Sharon, PA. It has a huge selection of shoes from very small to quite large!
