About Mrs. Espresso

Okay- well my secret edition is more of a “Get to Know Me A Little Better” for the Hive. I know you’re familiar with my “Wedding” side… now welcome to my secret side!! Muahahahahaha! (As you can see- this post will showcase how much of a nerd I am.) :)

Espresso Secret #1: I have an obsession with Cameron Crowe movies. He’s my favorite director and he knows how to put the best and most perfect music into his movies. Elizabethtown, Say Anything, Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, etc… I especially love the two soundtracks from Elizabethtown- My Morning Jacket, Ryan Adams, Pinback, Tom Petty, ah! All the soundtracks are great! I HEART Cameron Crowe movies!

Secret #2: I play Rummy like an 80-year-old woman who has nothing better to do. My MOH and I play all the time. We even have meet-ups in the California Adventure Lodge at Disneyland and play in the big Great Room. Mr. E used to make fun of me—but now he’s secretly hooked too. On Halloween night we had a tournament with my MOH and her boyfriend… I told you we were geeks. :)

Secret #3: My future kids will have hippie names and run around in capes and poofy skirts. We’re not looking at having kids anytime soon, but I think I’ve scared Mr. E and his family for when we do. I love the name “Rivers” for a girl and the following boy names: “Mojave” and “Indiana.” I’m not very conventional when it comes to names, but I love them. Mr. E has come around to the name Rivers, but the boy names have pretty much become hell nos. :) We’ll see if I can sneak them in as middle names! ;) But whatevs… I guess that’s just the granola in me.

Secret #4: I’ve been in a shark cage! Mr. Espresso is fascinated with sharks; a few years back, I surprised him with an excursion for his birthday. Although when I signed us up and paid for it, they didn’t inform me that the cage would be made of chicken wire, PVC pipe, and zip ties. Only after we signed our lives away on this “research” exhibition did they make this known to us! The experience was definitely scary, but also a HUGE rush… We saw Blue and Mako sharks and still talk about how crazy that day was.

And my last secret… I’m seriously considering staying involved in the wedding industry. I’ve had way too much fun writing here and planning our wedding. Of course if I ever switch entirely, Mr. E says I need to make sure I get paid! ;) But I have loved all of the creativity and excitement throughout the entire process. And I never want to give it up now. :)

Now you know me a little bit better. Tell me something about you!

Ooooohh- I live near Disney! And I have a Disney PASS!!! We should get a little gathering together! Wouldn’t that be too funny? My mom gets together with her friends once a month to play Pokeno & Bonko (sp) on occasion… Do you play hand rummy or table rummy?

Ms. E–I so heart you and your funny, rummy, musical, adventurous, granola-y, wedding loving geekdom! ( And the names you picked are so awesome!) I’m kind of hooked on this whole wedding thing too (and I’m not even a bride to be yet–I’m just taking notes and helping my sweet friend plan her wedding), so if you ever need help with your wedding industry endeavors, just let me know! LOL (Oh, and Sparkles is right–wouldn’t it be fun to do a weddingbee lover’s get-together for SoCal area people?)

oh my at the Indiana naming convention. I’m from Indiana and it’s definitely not worth naming your firstborn after. Maybe your third or fourth :)

I totally understand how you are feeling. I was so addicted to everything that came along with planning my May 31st wedding, that I have made it my career! I now am a Bridal Consultant at a popular Orlando bridal store, and have plans to become a wedding designer. Go for it, you will be so happy you did!

You should make sure your children have a name that will suit them as a congress(wo)man and a Broadway star…

That’s how I feel at least. I’m loving the Secret Life of Bees. It’s fun to learn more about everybody!

How could you talk Cameron Crowe and not mention Singles?!? Gar! Its so good!

I love hippie names too. Poor Mr. Meatball looks at me like I’m cookoo when I say “Let’s name our daughter Lemon!” But I love it!

And yes, I fear that weddings will always be in my blood too. Its a dangerous addiction, my friend.

I love unusual kids’ names! My current favorite is Ampersand (which could be Andy or Sandy for short, and has the symbol for super shorthand).

@Sparkles: A get together would be so fun. And I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t know the difference between hand rummy and table rummy :( Enlighten me!
@Kat: Thank- you for the support! :)
@Lillindy: That’s awesome!! Did you both grow up there? I’ve always wanted to go. My Portuguese music is mixed with my latin and french music so hopefully I’m not mixing any of these up (again- I don’t understand- just love to listen) Heck- maybe I’m not even listening to Portuguese music ;) But my itunes has Ceu, nara leao, nicola conte, sabrina malheiros, Bebel gilberto, sara tavares, etc…
@diorable: haha I’ll keep that in mind ;)
@Katie: Good for you!!! Keep enjoying your dream!
@Miss Meatball: Lemon sounds fun and summery! And so sorry about forgetting Singles! I don’t know where my brain was :)
@mannm: I’ve never heard that name before… Ampersand… that’s actually really fun to say… and I must look crazy talking outloud to myself right now ;)

No, we didn’t grow up there, but our parents did. He’s been there twice and I am dying to go. We are planning on making a trip with my godmother, godson, and grandma in 2 summers.

Ceu, Nara Leao, Sabrina Malheiros, Bebel Gilberto (Brazilian-Portuguese, just a different type. They are from Brazil but we are from the Azores Islands off of Portugal).

Sara Tavares is Portuguese from Portugal!

Nicola Conte (not sure, Italian maybe?)

Too bad you are taken because with your taste in music my new BIL would have been hooked, lol. He’s a music junkie, even in a Portuguese-Brazilian-Latin band. He can’t seem to find a girl around here (Bay Area) with the same taste in music.

@Lillindy: How fun! That’s awesome you’ll be able to take the trip- and with your family! Thanks for giving me the lowdown on who’s from where. Wow- quite the music wiz :) and you made me laugh about your BIL- flattering- but definitely taken ;) Sounds like he’s in a sweet band though!
