I hate getting my hair cut. I remember on my 16th birthday after I passed my driving test for my license, I went on my first drive alone to the hair stylist to get a trendy cut, color, and blow dry. I thought it might make me feel pretty, and of course I needed an excuse to drive somewhere! It did everything BUT make me feel pretty. I got in the chair after my hair was washed, and the stylist CHOPPED me. I wanted long bangs, and I got practically one-inch bangs. I wanted caramel hi-lights, and I got yellow. I said just a few layers, and I walked out with Jennifer Aniston’s famous layers.
Remember this fad? It was truly the most horrific haircut I’ve ever had. Round face and layers do not go well together.

Moral of the story for me was to never experiment if I wasn’t willing to deal with the outcome. So when I think about my wedding day hairstyle, I don’t think it will be the time to experiment. Don’t get me wrong now, I’ll throw on the occasional hair extension to switch things up a bit (I know, kinda weird) but on our wedding day, I want to feel like me, just a little better.
Here’s the thing… I love to wear my hair down. I think it looks best down on me, but I also really like the hair swept back look. My issue is that I have two very distinct hairstyles—one for work and one for play. When I’m at work, I’m always wearing my hair in a low bun-ish type thing. On my days off, my hair is down down down. I once went into the office on my day off and the front desk girls hardly recognized me. So even though I do love the look of a low bun, I’m worried I might feel like I’m at work instead of our wedding
So this is how I attempt to do my hair when we go out for dinner or something. It’s the romance I’m looking for in a hairstyle without the fuss. BUT, how do you attach a veil comb to this without completely flattening out the hair?!

I loved Avril’s wedding day hair—her curls were so natural and soft.

You see, Avril’s veil was a bit more poofy than a mantilla that will sit flat on the hair. Do you still think it’ll look OK?!

The other option I’ve considered is a half-up do. It might be easier with a veil, and my hair will be out of my face. Too many choices!
You can hate Jessica Simpson, but it’s so hard to hate her hair… go team Nick! (Oops, did I just say that?)

I love the combination of loose curls and a half up-do.

Can you tell if her hair is down or just swept to the side? I can’t, but I like it. Kinda screams romance, and that’s kinda what a wedding is all about, right?

This is the same idea here, off to the side. This look would definitely work with a flower in my hair during the reception (which is another detail I have yet to find).

OK, and last is the “up do” option—also known as my work hairstyle. I know it’s not the typical up-do, but I like the simplicity. Would it be weird to have “work hair” on our wedding day? Surely nobody would think twice, but I would know.

Has anyone ever seen the King of Queens episode where Doug talks about how much men hate the bun hairstyle? Champ seems to agree with Doug, and it makes me so sad to think he’ll never like my buns.
Move to 3 minutes 20 seconds into the video to view the clip:
So what do you think? Are you going for a completely different look on your big day, or will you kind of try to accent your regular, natural look? Does anyone else rock the low bun everyday to work?
