Not All Colors are Created Equal

November 10th, 2008 @ 2:39 pm by Mrs. Blush

As mentioned in an earlier post, we wanted our colors to reflect the special qualities of our wedding. After realizing that ash grey could mean about 100 different shades of grey, and no one could really pinpoint the color peach, I knew we wanted to create an inspiration board. So where else to turn but the Weddingbee Wiki!

I wanted to create something fabulous, like Mrs. Flamingo’s Polyvore boards, but I also wanted to use a few of my own pictures since peach was a hard color to find on the web. I’m sure you can use images of your own on Polyvore, but I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. So I turned to my BFF- Picasa. In Picasa, you choose which pictures you would like in your board, click the collage tool, choose from different collage options, and you get a clean and simple Inspiration Board in no time.

Here is our color palette:

Not All Colors are Created Equal : wedding color schemes 1.jpg
Not All Colors are Created Equal : wedding color schemes 2.jpgNot All Colors are Created Equal : wedding color schemes 3.jpg

and here is what I came up with:

Not All Colors are Created Equal : wedding color schemes Z172413 z172413
(source: suit, top left gray dress, rings, top right bouquet, bottom left cufflinks, pearls, earrings, bottom center gray dress, bottom center bouquet, bottom right dress)

Just a side note: A few of the images are actually part of our wedding (the shoes as you already know) and a few others!

Are you having trouble finding any of your colors?

ooo pretty! I love your color palette. Probably a little because it reminds me of our champagne, copper and gray love. :)

I love your colors! My May 2008 wedding was predominantly peach, and also coral, champagne, and white. It was so soft and romantic. Here’s a tip for you — as you’re trying to match colors, bring swatches EVERYWHERE! I brought a swatch of my coral bridesmaid dress to my florist, and she was able to match roses perfectly! She then gave me swatches that matched the white roses we used and the baker made the cake match those roses perfectly! It was all so perfectly matched — it was gorgeous! Hope this helps — Have fun!

Thanks stb fellow Atlanta-an! I used it and got some gorgeous results with my first attempt at making the o-fficcial inspiration board!

What is wonderful about Picasa, is I can print this or send this (or one I will make when I tweak things further along in planning) to florists, bakers, vendors, etc. Or just print it off and hand it to them as well!

Thanks for such a valuable suggestion!
