Part II: Girls Getting Ready

November 10th, 2008 @ 11:32 am by Mrs. Pinot Noir

My wedding morning started at 4AM. Even though I went to bed fairly early, starting at about 1AM I was waking up every hour or so, and by 4AM I just couldn’t fall back asleep. I was so excited for the day to begin that I was up for good. Mr. PN and I agreed not to see each other before the ceremony so I was afraid to leave my hotel room since he was staying in the room next to mine.

I attempted to make some coffee but the in-room coffee maker was so “complicated” that I had to call the front desk not once, but twice, to figure out how to use it… I guess I was just really sleepy and full of nerves. I knew that my room would be “Grand Central” for the morning so I prepared with fruit, bagels, cream cheese, and juice for everyone to munch on while we were getting ready. SIL Pinot was awesome (as always) and went out and brought back a huge container of coffee.

My hair and makeup stylists, Camilla Betteridge and Annette Avila of Lavish Hair & Makeup Studio, showed up right on time at 6AM. Camilla and Annette were both amazing.

Camilla did my hair and the hair for our two flower girls. I had gone in for a trial the day before so I knew what to expect. Well, the hairstyle on the day of was even better. She took all of my favorite elements from my inspiration board and put them into one perfect look. My hair wasn’t sticky, crunchy or so tight that my head hurt. I highly recommend her for any styling needs!!

Notice the sun isn’t even up yet…

Camilla was also really great with the flower girls. My younger niece burst into tears in the middle (for no apparent reason) but Camilla was patient and kind with her. She quickly figured out what the problem was (her hair was too curly) and fixed it right away. No more tears!

My nieces stopped in to give me gifts while we were getting ready. The each gave me a pair of earrings that they had picked out.

Annette (owner of Lavish Hair & Makeup Studio) did makeup for me, my two bridesmaids and my mom. She also did a great job. She listened to any requests from each person but we mostly gave her free reign. We didn’t do any trials so I was really glad when it all turned out so perfectly.

This terrible picture of me is a good “before makeup” picture. (Look at those dark circles under my eyes!)

After Makeup

I booked Camilla and Annette based on their reviews and responsiveness to my inquiries. I had never met them or seen their studio. Well, I sure did luck out! These women were absolutely amazing to work with. They were calm, kind and incredibly laid back. I really can’t speak highly enough about them. If you are planning a wedding in San Francisco I highly recommend that you check them out!

Did you luck out with any unknown vendors?
