Mrs. Green Tea's Picture
Mrs. Green Tea, Sacramento Age and Occupation: 30, Tea Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Coffee Critic Engagement Date: November 17, 2006 Wedding Date: August 23, 2008 Blogging Since: June 10, 2008 Venue: Vineyard on the Delta About Me: I'm just your average obsessive compulsive, arts & crafts loving, funky-on-the-inside/boring-on-the-outside girl, who dares to say 'Hey! I can make that!' Nerdy professional by day, goofy won-ton by night. The won-ton sometimes comes out during the day when I'm fed the dollar breakfast at Ikea. About Mrs. Green Tea

My MOH and I left the after rehearsal party early for our appointments at Massage Envy. She had recommended it for a while and I thought it would help me get a good night of sleep before the wedding. It was my very first time getting a professional massage (I have a slight phobia of being touched by strangers), and I’m sad to say it probably was my last. My MOH enjoyed hers thoroughly as usual, but I never got myself to really relax at any point during the massage. Rather, it left me more tense and feeling like I got the crap beaten out of me. That feeling lasted all night (resulting in sleeplessness) and into the entire morning.

But as usual, the mister came to my rescue. He was staying at the hotel that night, but went out to pick up my favorite breakfast pastry items in the morning and dragged his brother along (to not risk seeing me) to drop them off. No one quite fully comprehends how the way to my heart is through my stomach quite like he does.

MOH approves (of breakfast, not of photo of her just waking up and still in jammies):

My yummy cheese pastry & chocolate croissant:

After breakfast I got right to work prepping flowers:

Before finishing the flowers it was time to head to the salon for the hair and makeup appointment:

Then back to the house to finish up the floral arrangements. My college buddies also came over to ‘help me out’:

Actually soon after this picture was taken the boys’ SOs made them put the game away and help me process the flowers. But I love that I will forever have this picture to hold over their heads.

haha @ the last picture! boys will be boys!

were you doing your reception flowers or your bridal party flowers? I’m thinking about doing some DIY flowers and wasn’t sure if that was smart/easy? what was your experience?
Thanks!

I LOVE your updo! What were your inspiration photos to come up with it? And how long was your hair to pull it off?

By the way, when I used to work in a Spa many years ago, we always advised brides AGAINST getting a massage right before their wedding! I can’t remember the specifics as to WHY, but there was some chemical reason… its too bad your spa didn’t give you this warning =(

Ha ha ha, I too love that last picture. What fun to have the boys (eventually) help you out! (Before our wedding, a Groomsman prepped our guest book, and I still get a smile when I think of how carefully he slaved over it and how proud he was of the final results.)

@Mrs. Emerald: Massage releases pent-up lactic acid (or something like that) from muscle knots into the body. Sometimes a really deep massage can actually leave you feeling a little sick. Maybe that was the reason?

@nada122: I only did simple arrangements for the cocktail tables, my own bouquet, the flower girl bouquet, and the hubs’ boutonniere. I also processed several dozens for roses to be passed out to guests at the reception. I am experienced in doing wedding flowers so I had no hesitation doing my own. I did make sure to limit the amount I had to do since I knew I’d be pressed for time. Many brides DIY their own flowers, though I highly recommend getting help and getting in some practice runs if you don’t have a lot of experience. The question of whether it’s easy really is very subjective. Some brides care little about how their flowers look and any thing bunched up together and wrapped in a ribbon will make them happy. If you’re one of those brides, absolutely go the DIY route. If you’re picky and haven’t done a lot of flower arranging before, it may be better to save yourself the frustration and hire a reasonable florist. Good luck, and if you have specific flower questions feel free to PM me.

@MagPie518: thanx! i did have an inspiration photo but i can’t seem to find it at the moment. if i’m able to dig it up from my other computer i’ll email you

@Mrs. Emerald: @Mrs. Tulip: dang you guys! now you tell me!
