We Are Officially Ready to Rock

November 12th, 2008 @ 3:50 pm by Mrs. Lemonade

I am happy to report that we have booked our second band for our reception!

Originally I had decided on (and budgeted for) a DJ. I hadn’t consulted Mr. Lemonade on this (big mistake) and just figured it would be fine. Well, it wasn’t. As you may recall, Mr. Lemonade works in the music industry managing and booking bands. As soon as he heard about my decision to book a DJ he immediately offered his assistance to take on the entertainment responsibilities (and put the kibosh on any recorded music). I pretty much left it up to him from there on out.

After a few months of intensive research (read: checking out pretty much every cover band in town) we decided on the supremely talented six piece (!) Lost in Austin!

Seriously, the fact that Mr. Lemonade put his stamp of approval on this one means we definitely have a winner.

My Dad is also a huge music lover and was equally bummed when we told him we had decided to go the DJ route. We haven’t told him about the band yet and are planning to keep it a nice surprise for him at the reception! One more reason I can’t freaking wait!!

Are you planning on rocking out to a DJ or live band at your reception?

Mr. Taffy wanted to dj with all of his records, but there’s no way that’s going to happen!!! ;) We are still going with a dj though, he wants to control the play list. Congrats on finding the band!

Both! Our good friends are in a ‘Texas Country’ band (I know you know what that is, Miss Lemonade!), and we’re also getting a DJ to play other genres, like during dinner and cocktail hour.

@Miss Taffy: Maybe he could jump up and spin for a few for fun?
@Almostananderson: Of course I do! Who doesn’t love some Robert Earl and Pat Green?! :)

live music for sure. Live music during the cermony, during the cocktail hour, and 3 bands during the reception. No DJ for us

We’re having a band too and then some ipod songs during breaks and for our actual first dance. There’s just something about live music that gives more energy to the crowd.
