About Miss Snapdragon

Hi, Hot Stuff!

November 13th, 2008 @ 1:45 pm by Miss Snapdragon

Hello, Hive!

You have no idea how excited I am to Bee it up with all of you! This site has already been so helpful to me…I am really happy that I get to blog here and learn from all of you!

A little about me… Senor Snapdragon and I have been dating for almost four years now, and we have been talking about getting married for the last two. I am a ringless bride, and it is a WEE bit possible that the actual, official—for real—engagement might happen at the rehearsal dinner. Right now, my beloved ring setting sits, nekkid and alone, in my jewelry armoire. We realized that saving up for the diamond before planning the wedding would delay getting married by an additional year… and that was just silly (I am 30, I have babies in my eyes!!!) Thankfully I have tiny fingers and I’m no diva, so a huge diamond is totally unnecessary. Thanks, Mom!

I grew up in Waxahachie, Texas. (10 points to anyone who knows where that is – 50 if you can pronounce it!) I transplanted to Chicago for school… and then decided to stay.

Our wedding will be rockin’ out in the Chicago ‘burbs, and my entire Texan family is driving up to Chicago in one multi-car caravan to attend our wedding. When you find out exactly how many people that entails, there may be heart attacks.

I am excited to meet you all – I am excited to be here!

-Little Miss Snapdragon… or Ms. Snappy, if you’re nasty!

P.S. I DO tend to overuse CAPS and exclamation points… just so you know ahead of time. Eek! ;)

@jessicamaybe: Oak Brook! We live in the city, but it’s so much more relaxing and affordable out in the ‘burbs!

My wedding is just opposite of your’s!! My fiancee is a Midwesterner (Detroit) and we’re getting married in Texas, so his family is coming here from there!!! I live in Dallas now, so I see lots of Waxahachie b/c its on the way to my parent’s, where my wedding will be!

@SmallTownBride: I LOVE TEXAS WEDDINGS! I wanted to have our wedding in Texas, but since virtually all of our friends live in Chicago now… the only people at my wedding might be my family! For us, we are settling with a BBQ rehearsal dinner. You guys can do stuffed pizza for your RD!

What a wonderful thing to have another ring-less bride! I especially like you because you are without ring due to practicality. There is nothing Mr. Avocado loves more than finances and budgeting (well I guess he probably likes me better), so he would love both of you for being so smart about things. Snaps to you! (Can you tell I am obsessed with your name? Dang, kind of wishing I would have chosen snapdragon now :) )

Also, I’m living in Coppell, TX, how nice of you to teach me a little bit more about the geography where I live. I googled Waxahachie although I still don’t know how to say it!

I totally hear you on the ring. Unfortunately, my parents will be helping to fund the wedding, and they won’t let us plan until there’s a formal proposal, but J doesn’t want to propose without a ring! (Even though I told him it was completely unnecessary. I think he’s feeling pressure from friends/family)

So, we’re kind of in planning limbo right now…

@Mrs. Avocado: Well, there are two ways to say it. I say wox-uh-hatch-ee. Some other locals say wax-uh-hatch-ee. The town was TINY when I was little, but now they have a Target and Starbucks… so they’re movin’ on up!!

I do have to say I find Snapdragons - the flower - highly entertaining. They snap open, they snap shut, snap open, snap shut. Endless entertainment. :)

Welcome Miss Snapdragon! I don’t know the exact location of Waxahachie (I’m not a native Texan), but I hear it all the time when I’m watching the weather forecast in the morning. :) So excited to hear about your wedding plans!

@Mrs. Avocado: Coppell??? No way! I live in Valley Ranch, we’re practically neighbors! :)

i had lost hope that there’d be a miss snapdragon! GT couldn’t have been more fitting for my wedding, but my love for flowers, the ‘feisty’ name, plus the kickass icon was my favorite for a long time! i’m so glad you’ve arrived! welcome!

I’m from Sherman and remember having a beef with Waxahachie after my freshman year of high school. They beat us out of our state spot for marching band. So every time I drive through there or see a Waxahachie school bus, it just rubs me the wrong way.

Congrats on becoming a Bee. And best of luck with planning the wedding!

MISS STOUT

Hello there!

What does Michigan have to do with your wedding? I’m sort of a Chicago to Michigan transplant, getting married in Michigan (at our home) and am curious…

Can’t wait to read more!

@MISS STOUT: Michigan has nothing to do with my wedding - Mrs. Bee and Mrs. Penguin know about it though, and I’m sure it’ll be fixed to just say “Chicago” after a bit!
