I meant to write about this sooner, but it was tough sorting through 895 (yes, you read that right—895) pictures. We attended the wedding of our friends George and Suegi, and Mr. Martini was a groomsman. The wedding took place at Aldrich Mansion in Rhode Island. I’m not even sure how to pronounce it right (you’re talking to someone who used to pronounce photographer as “foe-toe-grapher”), but all I know about the place was that the movie Meet Joe Black was filmed there. From that day on, during the months leading up to the wedding date, we referred to it as the “Meet Joe Black Mansion”, or MJBM, if you’re feeling sexy.
Since Mr. M was a groomsman, I got to tag along for the photo shoot that took place at the mansion before the ceremony. So, I got a chance to see the mansion before it got too dark and was able to really take in the view. Let me just tell you—it was truly breathtaking! So breathtaking, that I totally forgot to take pictures of the grounds…
But here’s a picture that I found on the trusty internet, which was also the picture used for their STD:

After I wandered around the grounds (for a little too long) daydreaming about the day I win the lottery and own a house just like this one, I came to my senses and started making use of my backstage pass by snapping pictures of some of the details of the wedding.
Of course, I didn’t realize until picture 237 that the tables weren’t even completely set up yet, and I made a mental note to take more pictures of everything during the reception. That’s of course before I remembered that I was in charge of manning the Polaroid guest book table during the cocktail hour, and by the time we were eating dinner I was too busy trying to catch up to everyone on the alcohol consumption and forgot I even owned a camera. But all is not lost, because I do want to share a few pictures with you!

A couple of shots of the view behind the mansion

The men

Aww I love this picture, it’s their first moment. There’s always something about that very first moment you see each other on the day of your wedding. When I was a MOH for my best friend’s wedding, I burst into tears when I witnessed her first meeting with her soon-to-be husband. I think that sometimes it’s more moving than saying “I do”.

Here I’m taking pictures of the foe-toe-grapher taking pictures of the wedding party. As you can imagine I was feeling totally artistic while taking this picture through the window frame.

Centerpieces. Don’t mind the tables—they weren’t set up yet. But I liked the idea of the centerpieces.

Bride and Groom seats

Candy-filled tin escort “cards”

Here are the bridesmaids practicing their special song for the ceremony. They sang “Only Hope” by Mandy Moore.

I wanted to include these shots that Mr. Martini took during the cocktail hour, because they are some of the few pictures that include details of the mansion. It had a library! I love libraries and my dream is to dedicate a room for my very own personal library, complete with a fireplace and a huge couch that I can sink into with a book. Yes, I peed a little when I saw it.
The wedding was tons of fun. Congrats again George and Sue. You guys are truly perfect for each other!
