Name Our Signature Drink!

November 13th, 2008 @ 12:13 pm by Ms Fondue

Although we had originally decided to have a full open bar we are now leaning toward beer, wine, and one signature drink, for budget reasons.

Mr. Fondue was a bartender for several years, so I naturally turned to him for recommendations on what our drink should be. We decided it should be a red drink, since that’s our accent color. Mr. Fondue said he thought a vodka and cranberry would be the simplest and tastiest choice.

I did a taste test on Halloween (so never mind my zombie appearance) and approved his decision.

But of course we want to give it some sort of snappy name to put on our bar menu.

So, I am turning to the hive. Any suggestions on what we should call our signature drink? Remember, we are using black and white damask, with a simple elegance/geek chic theme. Also, our last name will begin with an H, if that helps anyone.

I can’t wait to hear your opinions!

Halo? Hades?

I’ll have to think a little more fore some more clever than that but a good red drink could also be a pomegranate martini.

We were thinking of limiting the drink menu to:
Something Old - Sherry Shots
Something New - Signature Wedding Cocktail
Something Borrowed - Rum & Coke (most popular drink in the world)
Something Blue - Labatts Beer

That got us out of “naming” the signature drink.

Thinking Geek:
Pangalactic Gargleblaster
A Red Herring
Health Potion
Arcade Cocktail
Power Up

Thinking Classy:
Love in the Afternoon
P.S. I Love You
Red Velvet
Wedding Sunset
Wedding Sunrise

Good Luck!

A cranberry vodka with a twist of lime is called a “cape cod,” so you could go with that.

As a Massachusetts native, that drink is quite often known up here as a, “Cape Coddah.”

Delish!

What about “Red Potion” and then put a little picture of the potion from Legend of Zelda next to it… http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Potion

These are some great ideas! I am loving Red Herring (all I can think of is the Clue movie when I hear that) or the Red Potion Zelda idea - though I might just call it “Mana.”

I love the Zelda potion idea! That was my fav. nintendo game as a kid and Mr. Onion was so sweet to find a DS version for me on ebay!

I like the Zelda potion idea, too, that was the best game!

Also, a fun way to spice up vodka cranberry is to add some sprite & some flavored vodka - I personally love Diet Sprite, Cranberry & Absolut Peach.
