The Secret Life of Bees: Flamingo Edition

November 19th, 2008 @ 11:25 am by Mrs. Flamingo

Hey everyone… in case you don’t remember me, it’s Mrs. Flamingo. I apologize for not being present these past couple of months. Let’s just say that there has been much movement in my life, and because of it I have been way too busy… it’s crazy. (It’s positive - don’t worry. I got a new Graphic Design job that I love.) I absolutely wanted to take part in this awesome Secret Life of Bees series. I loved reading everyone else’s secrets and thought it was time to share my own.

1. I enjoy eating something I call the Microwave Grilled Cheese. It’s pretty self explanatory: 2 slices of white bread with 1 slice of Kraft cheese, placed carefully on a plate with a paper towel (so that the bread doesn’t become soggy). Put in the microwave until the cheese is melted. I know, it doesn’t seem very appetizing, but it’s something my younger sister and I used to eat after coming home from school.

2. When I was smaller, I preferred playing with cars than with Barbie dolls. I loved using the toy car carpet my dad bought me when I was younger. I could play hours with that thing, to the point that my dad bought one for my future kids (and I’m not even pregnant). Daddy Flamingo is too cute.

3. I wore my first pair of jeans when I was in 9th grade. Yup you read that right. Before that, I was all jogging pants and leotards! How sexy!!!

4. I don’t know what my fetish is with sliced white bread, but I love to eat all the crust and then take the white part and squish it into a ball of dough. Then I eat it of course. Hey, this list is about my secrets… so don’t judge! :)

5. I have a guilty pleasure - I like the Spice Girls. I know a majority of their choreography, and my sister and I would dance in our basement. Come on, there’s something catchy with their music…. I’LL TELL YOU WHAT I WANT… WHAT I REALLY REALLY WANT… lol

6. I have this weird goal of having as many businesses as possible. Maybe that’s me wanting to be a woman of all trades, but at the moment I have 3. I’m working on getting more!!!

7. Like Mrs. Penguin - I have a tattoo story to share. Before I got my driver’s license, I told myself that if I passed the first time around, I would reward myself by getting a tattoo. So being an artist, I decided to draw my own tattoo. It seemed pretty and all - a sort of tribal sun. Until my younger sister pointed out that it looks like sperm and egg. And now what I say is… haha.. is that it’s my fertility tattoo. Hope it brings luck in the future… oh my!

So there you have it some stories/secrets about me.

Do you have a secret you want to share? Come on - I must not be the only one with a bread fetish??? :)

i made those too! except i toasted the bread in the toaster before microwaving it. but this was before i was allowed to use the stove by myself. and i did the same with sliced bread. in fact, i’d peel off the crust and roll them up into a cinnamon roll type thing and eat it before squishing the bread into a ball. lord, i haven’t thought of that in years!

I totally do the same thing whenever I eat bread! I love eating the delicious little ball of dough :D

I also love the Spice Girls, and am proud of it. I went to one of their reunion tour concerts this past February and it was the best day of my life! lol

I used to do the grilled cheese thing, except with rice cakes instead of bread.

I also love squishing white bread up into a dough ball! :D

I love doing that with bread. Especially artisan breads. Yummm! Do they have costco in Canada? I can’t eat those costco muffins without squishing them up into little yummy balls.

Avo - we have Costco here in Canada… and we have those muffins too… though I have never attempted. It will be on my list of to-dos ;)

D: I went to their reunion tour concert. I even purchased an official Spice Girl “Girl Power” Shirt.

And might I add - I am so happy to hear many of yous have common bread experiences. lol

Yes, the white bread is a temptation I cannot long resist. And I’m just like you in that I eat the crust and then the middle!

Mee too on the Spice Girls. My personal blog is named after my home girl, Ginger. But I have a woman crush on Posh.
