Wherever Have I Been?

November 19th, 2008 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Ballet Flat

I have to apologize for my absence last week, hive! This Ballet Flat had a root canal Tuesday (soda is evil), and said bye bye to my job in New Orleans. I officially moved to Baton Rouge, and I couldn’t be happier!! (Because I’m now in the same city as Mr. Ballet Flat!)

That’s the capitol building for Louisiana, and being on the tippy top of that building, you have a very beautiful, serene view. I highly recommend this for any Baton Rouge-ians (after all, it’s free!).

Tiger Stadium… only the happiest place you can be on a Saturday!

Now, I won’t lie… I miss my family. I miss them dearly, and I miss my old job too! In fact, there was a huge surprise for me that Friday at work that I am SO appreciative of my coworkers for! It made the day wonderful, yet that much harder to leave. (I’ll save that for another post!)

So, naturally, after a difficult week, I broke down last Friday after I got to Baton Rouge, and thankfully, Mr. Ballet Flat knew how I could drown my sorrows. Chick-Fil-A’s seasonal Peppermint Choc. Chip milkshake!! (I’m such a kid, right?)

If you made the move to your fiance, was it hard on you or was the transition easy?

Me and my fiance live together, and have for the past 11 months. My move wasn’t too bad since I moved from my parents house (about 15 minutes away). Good luck in your new town :)

I just moved last month, and I think it’s just now getting better! we still love each other, but it is harder than we thought, and makes ‘forever’ seem more like FOR-EV-ER ;)

Moving is rough, I bet you’re glad it is all over! Mr. P and I moved for his job. It meant I had to leave my job and friends, but it also meant I could help him pursue his dreams so it is all worth it. Welcome back!

Like Mrs. Pineapple, my fiance and I moved earlier this year so that he could pursue his dreams. We moved from my hometown in the Midwest to the South and it has definitely been an interesting experience for the both of us. :) It was definitely worth it for us as well, it just took us about 6 months to adjust to our new surroundings.

Mr. Wiglet and I moved from Seattle to Chicago last August so that he could start law school, and it has been rrrr-o-u-g-h for me. Seattle was my hometown, and now I’m in this huge, cold (but still pretty awesome) city with no friends and no job. I’m slowly making friends with his law school buddies, but I don’t think this will feel like home until I have my own life. Unfortch, the economy makes finding another job - where I could meet more people - quite hard. Still, I wouldn’t have changed this for the world. It’s shown me how incredibly supportive and patient my man is. Also, Because I’m always home, we now spend like 20 hours a day alone together and I’m happy to report that we STILL aren’t sick of each other! If anything, we’re more in love than ever!

Still, moving is hard and my heart goes out to you…although it sounds like you’ve got a great outlook! It’s also nice that you’ve probably spent enough time there to lay the groundwork for your new lift - I had never been to Chicago before we moved here!
