A Bouquet of Flowers

November 21st, 2008 @ 11:44 am by Mrs. Sushi

In continuation of should or should I not have a bouquet, I really love the look of peonies.

But I’m not a fan of their prices. Ouch! Carnations, on the other hand, look similar to peonies when bunched together and are great on the wallet. I’m really loving the look of carnations.

I’ve also thought of doing something less ordinary, like paper flowers.

I actually bought this Martha Stewart crepe paper rose kit; I’ll make sure to post results once I’ve actually made them.

How about origami flowers!

Did you DIY your bouquet or use something other than fresh flowers?

Why not just carry a single flower like a cala lily? If you are doing the leis you may not need more than that.

The button bouquet link is broken - but you can find them at princesslasertron’s store on Etsy (what I’m assuming the link directs you to)
OR
read her blog that makes me want to be her bff.

You could always just get a bunch of fresh tropicals or some stems of orchids from a farmer’s market. We live on Maui, and are getting literally a truckload of tropicals and a ton of orchid heads for our wedding for $300. There’s also an awesome small shop in Manoa that sells individual flowers for super reasonable prices. It’s not hard to get awesome looking flowers in Hawaii for cheap! I can send you some info about Oahu farmers markets if you need.

I’m using clay flowers, ala Mrs. Pineapple, from Diane at DK Designs http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5620819 . Not cheaper, but really really awesome. It also allowed me to get exactly what I wanted, even flowers or shades that don’t actually exist in nature.

From the above, I love the ribbon bouquets and the berry ones!
