Oh Happy Day: Side Session

November 21st, 2008 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Toucan

After all the toasting, Robert pulled us aside for quick mini side session. We had not had the opportunity to take pictures of just to the two of us, and after seeing these, I’m so glad we were able to squeeze it in!

The shot above is one of my favorites of the entire day—and who would have thought that it was taken in the bathroom hallway!

Aside from the bathroom hallway, we also made use of some of Jin Asia’s unique decor…

This is my absolute favorite picture of Mr. Toucan.

I have one of these framed on my desk at work.

After we toasted the tables, so many of our guests were mingling with our families and bridal party. Mr. Toucan and I were able to sneak away without really missing much—except part of dinner. Our Chinese banquet had 10 courses, so as you can imagine, it takes a while for everyone to eat! Also, by sneaking away during dinner, for a few minutes, many of the guests didn’t even notice that we were gone!

Do you plan to have a mini side session with your photographer? When do you plan to do it?

Gorgeous photos! that lighting is incredible.

We’re hoping to do one either in the middle of the reception or afterwards– and after seeing your results, I’m definitely making it a priority.

Originally, I didn’t want to see my FI before the wedding. But he really wanted to attend the cocktail hour to see all of our guests. I finally compromised when a friend suggested the following:

See each other before the wedding and take all of the bridal party pictures. (My photogs will do a “first glance” setup, so we’ll have that “moment” even thought it won’t be the same as him seeing me at the end of the aisle.) After the ceremony, we’ll spend about 15 minutes taking family portraits– just a few of his fam, and a few of mine. We’ll then make our way to the cocktail hour, and our plan is to sort of circle the room to see as many people as possible.

Then, during dinner, most couples usually circle around to all of the tables to thank everyone for coming. Since we plan on thanking most of our guests during the cocktail hour, we are going to slip out when our guests are eating, and take a few pictures of us as a married couple… by ourselves.

Thanks for sharing the great shots you got!
