Wedding Band Decisions…

November 21st, 2008 @ 4:39 pm by Mrs. Lemonade

My mother has impeccable taste. Ever since I was a little girl I have adored her chic style and absorbed her lessons on fashion. We believe in quality, well made goods that will last a lifetime. We tend to shy away from anything with logos but have a deep appreciation for iconic pieces and craftsmen. Anyhow, many many moons ago my mother and I were having her watch cleaned (a classic Tank with navy lizard strap, a fabulous gift from my father). To entertain myself I floated around the store peering into each glass case, falling in love with almost every piece. I remember that as I looked over the rings and wedding bands, my mother joined me and we dreamt together that one day when (if) I got married this would be the only acceptable ring for such an occasion (sans diamonds…she probably thinks the diamonds are gaudy… I love them):

It’s the Cartier Trinity rolling ring with a few little diamonds. I love it, always have. As you know I have a propensity towards unique and different jewelry. Herein lies the dilemma.

This ring TOTALLY competes with my e-ring. Even if I wore them on 2 different fingers, heck 2 different hands, I still feel it’s a bit too much.
So, I’ve been searching for alternatives. My beloved Cartier proved to have plenty of viable options:

While I LOVE the tri-color on the last one, I still feel it may be a bit much. Thus, I’m leaning towards the third one down. The delicate pave setting matches my e-ring quite well and the narrow diameter won’t overpower my tiny hand.

How did you decide on your wedding band?

oh i love the third one down! simple but oh so gorgeous :) the one your mother likes is very pretty too. I recently saw a bride who had a fairly thick e-ring, and a very thing band and she wore them on separate hands, so it is an option :)

I think the third one is Shared Prong, which is what I have and I LOVE it! I think it looks so dainty and beautiful on its own. However, I lean strongly towards classic jewelry (e-ring is a simple solitaire), not unique and different - so not sure if this would match your taste in the end!

One of my coworkers wears the Cartier Trinity ring, sans diamonds. It’s gorgeous!

Oh I love Cartier too! I was shocked that Mr. Marg bought my e-ring from there - it was always one of those stores to me that I was too nervous to even go into. They have such gorgeous rings. My wedding band is the first eternity ring that you listed and I love it! Although I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of them :)

For what it’s worth, I think you could wear your ering on your right hand with the trinity of your left and it would look great, if that’s what really makes you happy. I love the one you’re leaning toward because the metal is so unobtrusive with the stones. I am actually planning to not get a band that “goes” with my ering. It has an elaborate and beautiful setting that my fiance picked out and I don’t want to distract from it. I’d like a fairly plain band to wear when I don’t wear the ering, such as at work, travel, etc.

Well, I can’t offer any advice, because I have no idea what to pair with my e-ring, but I will be watching closely to see what you pick, Miss Lemonade! My e-ring is a split shank with pave diamonds, also. And I can’t decide if I want a pave diamond band, a plain band, or something completely different to wear by itself!

I agree about the 3rd one when thinking of it with your e ring.

My FI gave me the third eternity band pictured above as a promise ring. I absolutely adore it and actually wear it alone sometimes when I’m not feeling saucy enough to wear my e-ring.

I chose a very unique wedding band that I love, but it competes with my e-ring. I will probably end up either wearing both, one on each hand or just one at a time.

My wedding band looks exactly like the first “viable option” of yours… I love it! I agree, for your e-ring, the 3rd choice looks like it would go just perfectly! Let us know what you end up picking! I love your e-ring so much. If I had to do it all over again, I’d be showing Mr. Peng a picture of your ring.

My wedding band is the third picture. I LOVE it and cant wait to get married to wear it. I originally tried on the 1.5 ct but it took over my e-ring so the .5 ct was perfect.

I have the Cartier Trinity roller, and I love it. It’s so comfortable and the boy (who usually steals it to wear on a daily basis) can’t get enough of it. It was a gift from my uncle on his departure from this world, but I tell you, it’s the most perfect ring. And he got his stamped, instead of having diamonds (!!!). There is a tiny diamond-shaped stamp on the outside of each band, each with a tinier heart stamped inside the diamond shape.

So, if you can handle it, do it! You won’t regret it!

I have the Cartier platinum band wirth 3 diamonds. Not quite the trinity roller, but similar to a single part of it and it always fits nice and comfortably. Just a thought for you to consider.
Of your photos, I like #3!
