Dream Honeymoon, a Reality

November 23rd, 2008 @ 12:02 pm by Mrs. Spring Roll

I am so excited to share the news that Mr. Spring Roll and I have booked our honeymoon to London and Paris; a very generous wedding gift from FMIL and FFIL Spring Roll. Thanks to everyone’s advice, we purchased Rick Steve’s London and Paris 2008. Using the books and advice, we booked our honeymoon without a travel agent. Mr. Spring Roll and I will depart on March 24th and arrive back on April 1st.

In London, we will be staying at the K+K Hotel George. The hotel has a beautiful private garden, is located next to the underground station, has free high speed internet, and most importantly (to me) has private bathrooms.

In Paris, we will be staying at Hotel du Cadran, as recommended in Rick Steve’s Paris 2008. The hotel is located in the 7th arrondissement, minutes away from the Eiffel Tower, Rue Cler market, and Les Invalides.

Is anyone else going to London or Paris for their honeymoon?

You will have a fantastic time! We live in London, and I couldn’t imagine a more wonderful city in the world. One of the best things about London is how much is FREE — most museums, great markets, walking around gorgeous neighbourhoods– you will love it! enjoy!

We spent a few days in London at the beginning of out honeymoon, and the best part for us was just walking up to theatres in the morning and asking if they had any good seats that night. We just barely missed the 10-pound tickets to Wicked (the people in front of us got the last pair), but we still managed to get in, and for Avenue Q we got GREAT tickets that someone had just exchanged–fourth row!

OMG! We stayed at K+K George… the same one!!! I have photos of us standing on one of those private balconies overlooking the front right by the entrance and when I saw your post I thought “I know that place!”

We were there in 2002. The room was very small but we loved the private bathroom and the deep tub. They have nice toiletries that come in a cute little box and it’s within walking distance to convenience shops and litte cafes.

Ehm… our room wasn’t nearly as large as the one you have pictured… not in the least. So if you did get a big room like that — LUCKY YOU!

The ‘continental bfast’ isn’t just muffins and bagels like we have in America. It’s a full blown spread and we filled up on it every morning.

How fantastic!! Are you taking the “Chunnel” between London and Paris? I highly recommend checking out the markets in both cities- in London the Spitalfields (I think thats how you spell it) on the north end of town is awesome full of great food, clothes, and crafty stuff- but it might only run on Sundays. Like someone else mentioned, much of the attractions in London are free!! Tate Modern is a personal favorite museum of mine- worth checking out on a rainy day!

Enjoy!!

aww, we used to live right around the corner from your Paris hotel! (We still live in Paris, but in a different part of the 7th.) It really is a great location. Rue Cler is great–I recommend Cafe du Marche for a meal, and Tribeca for drinks and people-watching.

Ooohh lucky!! We got engaged in Paris under the Eiffel Tower and then went to London a few days after. That was without a doubt, the BEST vacation ever… even better than our honeymoon, HAHA. But seriously, both Paris and London are fabulous, I can’t wait to go back!!

Hey Miss Spring Roll! It seems we have a lot in common. I noticed it says you live in Tampa. I lived in Tampa the past 4 years (went to USF), but just moved to Ft. Lauderdale recently.

My fiance and I are also going to London and Paris for our honeymoon too. We just booked our flight to London a few days ago. Our trip is May 16-26th. I was actually just looking at Hotel du Cadran last night, but still haven’t booked anything yet. I went to Paris and London back in high school and love, love loved it! I’ve been telling my fiance we need to go for ages and now we finally have a reason to go. I’m so excited!

I’ve stayed at the K&K George! it’s in a great location and a nice hotel. You can’t beat being right next to the tube.

I want to go to Hong Kong or Colombia for our honeymoon. Im more excited about planning it than the wedding itself.

One of the best things I learned from visiting Europe this summer was take full advantage of the full breakfasts! Then you’ll be able to grab a small snack for lunch and spend a bit more on nice dinners :D Have fun, London is such a great city! (I have mixed feelings about Paris, but that’s probably just my experience and the pennies-a-day budget I was on)

I went to London & Paris for my honeymoon, and it was AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! You’re going to have such a FABULOUS time! I love and adore both cities, but Paris was the best!

Be sure to take the boat tour that starts off at Pont Neuf, it is lower in price than the others, and so great! We went right at sunset, and it was amazing. Notre Dame was my favorite place to visit, and the best part? Climbing the steps up to the very top. It was incredible!

Oooooh… just such wonderful cities for a honeymoon!

I have stayed in the Hotel du Cadran, it’s the PERFECT LOCATION! Everything is a short walking distance and the staff was so nice and helpful.

What a great gift! You’re going to have a blast!
