Nor Cal Bee Pre-Holiday Bash

November 24th, 2008 @ 6:14 pm by Mrs. Pomegranate

With so many recently married Bees in the Northern California area, we were dying to get together before the holiday season. Mrs. Penguin, Mrs. Green Tea, Mrs. Lemon and I met up to do a little Pre-Thanksgiving stomach stretching with some fondue at Melting Pot (shout out to Miss Fondue!). Tuesday night we gathered empty-bellied, ready to stuff ourselves silly.

Mrs. Penguin and Mrs. Green Tea getting a nice Coq au Vin steam bath. It’s good for your pores and it smells YUMMY!

Mrs. Lemon and I enjoying our meat fondue course. Random Mrs. Pom Fact: My chest flushes red when I’m drinking - you can see it here. Attractive, no?

We split a couple of Big Night Outs amongst the four of us, which included several courses starting with a delicious Wisconsin Trio cheese fondue and our choice of salads - we stuck to the Spinach Mushroom and Southwestern Cobbs. Then we were presented with a selection of meats to be dipped into our cooking style of choice: Coq au Vin.

We chose our fondue forks carefully: Mrs. Lemon chose yellow, Mrs. Penguin chose blue (icy penguin blue), Mrs. Green Tea chose green, and I,of course, chose red.

Our Signature Selections included: Teriyaki-Marinated Sirloin, Chicken Vegetable Pot Stickers, Breast of Chicken, White Shrimp, Ahi Tuna, and Filet Mignon. Mind you, this was for two people, but could have fed an army when you added in the broccoli, squash, potatoes and mushrooms.

Of course, when you think you couldn’t eat a bit more - they bring out the chocolate fondue!

Finally it cools off, and we’re able to enjoy our Dark Chocolate Cherries Jubilee fondue with a plate full of treats (as you can see in front of Mrs. Penguin): fresh strawberries, banana, cheesecake, Oreo and graham cracker marshmallows, pound cake and brownies.

A group shot before we headed out the door: Me, Mrs. Penguin, Mrs. Green Tea, and Mrs. Lemon.

Thank you ladies for joining me! I can never get enough of fondue and my stomach is definitely stretched and ready for Thanksgiving pies. I had a total blast with you - we must get together again soon!

funny how you put two asian people together that look nothing alike and you always get the non-asian person that think they do…

We loved Melting Pot so much we even went there the night we got engaged to celebrate. The staff congratulated us and brought us what we thought was free champagne, as we didn’t ask for it. We were dismayed to find a $15 charge on the bill for it. We were in too good of a mood to argue about it and didn’t want it to ruin the night, so we just paid for it. It irritated me more than my FI, but oh well. :p

i don’t mean to be snarky but i agree with lvee’s comment! that’s like saying mrs. pom and mrs. lemon look like sisters just because they both have blonde hair.

@Miss Fondue: I will admit I was a little skeptical about the cherries chocolate, but MAN it was GOOOOOOOOD! We had the waiter flambe the chocolate twice to get a good photo op, so perhaps the secret to its extra goodness was the extra alcohol :)

I want fondue!!!! I was actually talking about it this weekend. Mr. Taffy doesn’t like cheese, so I’ll have to find a friend to go with me!
