Our furbaby Paco is always trying to get into the wedding planning. It’s very sweet, but usually he just gets in the way, or knocks things over. You know, the whole lack of opposable thumbs can be a real inconvenience. But finally, he has made his mark on the wedding (pardon the dog-pun), and now he won’t stop gloating.
Some time ago, we were on an early evening walk around the cul-de-sac near our house, when we met just the cutest little doggie, Ruby and her lovely mom, Sarah.
Paco immediately started laying the mack on her, and Ruby was eating it up. All the while, us grown-ups got to know each other, and hit it off quite nicely. On our walk back home, Sarah mentioned that she is starting an eco-friendly floral business called La Vie en Rose (so cute!). My spidey senses tingled.
Now we’re all fast friends, and Sarah is our wedding florist! I’m so excited because working with friends is the best possible scenario, and she’s super talented. Plus, her focus on eco-friendly florals is exactly what we were looking for, and she lives right down the street! How perfect, to have meetings about the floral design, while the puppies get a play date.

Before meeting Sarah, we had always thought we’d just do the flowers ourselves. But the task was kind of daunting and I secretly wished we’d stumble into an opportunity to use a professional. And stumble, we did! Now we get to have gorgeous, stress-free flowers, and a great new friend in the neighborhood. What could be better?

That bottom pic of the succulents in the copper urn is fantastic. Tell your florist she is awesome. I also like the name she chose.
Oh my gosh I love Paco and Ruby; Paco is so handsome, and Ruby is so precious. The flowers are great too!
This is a dumb question, but what differentiates an ecofriendly florist from a non ecofriendly florist?
My furbaby Murphy is a flamboyant little wedding planner! He sits by my shoulder any time I look at wedding stuff online and perks up whenever I watch girlie wedding movies!!!
@ Robin: Eco-friendly florists use seasonal flowers grown locally, rather than importing. They use reusable containers, if possible. They use replantable elements (like succulents) when possible. They’re overall, just more mindful of the footprint, because sometimes flying in orchids from Thailand uses a lot of engine fuel, for example. 
Does that make sense? I know, I was totally confused at first, too.

Good job Paco! I’m going to tell Jellyby the shih tzu this story so that she knows there are dogs out there that don’t just lie around all day doing nothing to help their owners with wedding planning!
Look at Paco, pulling his weight! Billie Jean would not help in this field. She’d definitely bite our vendors. What a lazy and ornery dog.

@ Robin: Sarah also told me that eco friendly flowers are flowers that are Veriflora certified which means they were grown in a way that is sustainable to the environment, not doused in highly toxic chemicals as are most flowers on the market and with fair labor practices. Thought you’d like to know!
