Mrs. Crab Cake's Picture
Mrs. Crab Cake, Columbus, GA Age and Occupation: 25, Registered Nurse Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Director of Education and Living History for a museum Engagement Date: April 6, 2008 Wedding Date: June, 2009 Blogging Since: November 26, 2008 Venue: Holy Family Catholic Church, reception: National Infantry Museum About Me: I'm a perfectionist trying to balance two jobs, motherhood, my craft obsession, and wedding planning. I am obsessed with all things wedding, especially creative ideas for saving money and DIY projects. A Southern Belle at heart, I love anything southern, especially sweet tea, grits, afternoon thunder storms, crab cakes, and good old Southern hospitality. Mr. Crab Cake and I are planning a vintage inspired wedding with tons of Southern flare (can y'all say that with a thick Southern drawl?).
About Mrs. Crab Cake

Hey Y’all!

November 25th, 2008 @ 2:45 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

OMG, I am so excited to be the newest addition to the hive!! I can’t wait to travel this road with y’all in the passenger seat! I knew I wanted to be a blogger for Weddingbee the minute I logged in.

I’m a registered nurse from the Deep South. Raised in Mobile, Alabama, I’m especially fond of the beach. I moved to Georgia just over a year ago and met my soul mate shortly thereafter.

I’m a total foodie with a love for all (ok, almost all) veggies, sushi, traditional southern fare, and, of course, seafood. Crab Cake was the perfect moniker for me - it pays homage to my home town, my way of life, and one of my favorite foods.

I’m obsessed with all things crafty, but especially knitting, sewing, and quilting. I’ve committed myself to way too many DIY projects for the wedding, but that’s ok with me.

Last but definitely not least, I’m a mom. I have a 4 year old daughter who definitely tries my patience. But she’s beautiful and amazing and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.

Mr. Crab Cake and I met under very strange circumstances. How, you say? Well, I was in Savannah with my mom just because. Mum Crab Cake and I went on a haunted pub crawl and had the pleasure of touring some of the most haunted spots in Savannah while getting our drink on. We stopped at the Moon River Brewing Co. for a cold one, and I struck up a conversation with a cutie at the bar who I assumed was a local and would know the selections by heart. Turns out my local was a Columbus boy visiting Savannah for a friend’s birthday. Once we figured out we lived in the same town, we exchanged email addresses. Emails led to phone conversations and then to our first date.

Mr. Crab Cake and I are planning a big (non)traditional Catholic wedding on a little tiny budget. We have a great venue and have scored some amazing vendors through lots of research and patience. I’m super excited about getting to share our big day with y’all!

An Alabama bee… I love it! I’m a student at Auburn and was raised about an hour away from Mobile. I recently got engaged, and we think we might have the wedding in Auburn. I look forward to seeing what you find in our area (only about 30 minutes apart!).

Did you say quilting? My mom is an avid quilter, and until I moved in with my husband I slept under nothing but homemade quilts. You’ll have to show me some of your work!

Welcome!

@Miss Deviled Egg: Yay for knitting! I taught myself after I finished nursing school and found my self with an unbelievable amount of spare time! Do you knit socks? I hate hate hate socks.

@Miss Powder Puff: @Miss Cheese: It was so meant to be! People honestly think we’re lying about most of the time!

@Miss Taffy: Thanks, I love being a nurse! It’s so rewarding!

@Caroline: Go Tigers! We are huge Auburn fans! How exciting!! Congratulations on your engagement!

@Mrs. Cookie: I’d love to show you my quilts. I’ve just started it, but I can tell I’m going to be addicted soon. I love putting something together out of nothing!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Y’all are great!

OMG, I love that haunted pub crawl in Savannah. One of my favorite memories is ending the crawl by doing Irish car bombs with our guide, who was dressed as a revolutionary war solider. It’s a win-win for all: history, drinking and beautiful Savannah!

Yay sewing and quilting! I’m a quilter, and practically pee my pants when I find other quilters. My blog is entirely about quilting, hah.
