We’re a mere six months away from our wedding and we haven’t decided on a wedding party yet. *gulp* Wait, wait! Before you slap my hand for my procrastination, I assure you that this is different than all of the other things we haven’t done yet. Really, I swear!
I’m having a hard time making the whole idea of a bridal party make sense for us (well, me). Tradition for the sake of tradition doesn’t work for me. Things have to make sense to me, in my head and in my heart, before I can move on, so I’m stuck. (Yes, yes, I was that kid that drove everyone nuts asking, “Why?” all the time.)

For anyone who knows anything about me, I can be pretty indecisive. But when it came to our wedding colors, my decision was swift and final. So, what were those colors that instantly sought me out and made my heart go pitter pat?
Feast your eyes upon this:

I love me some J.Crew. Ninety-five percent of my wardrobe consists of J.Crew items, and the other five percent wishes they were from J.Crew.

Confession: Mr. Fondue and I are both music snobs. One of the reasons we actually started talking and dating was because we had a love for similar bands. What we consider our first date was a concert (A Perfect Circle). That’s not to say we agree on all music, however, which can produce some mild bickering in the Fondue household (like, he’s not allowed to listen to Dave Matthews if I can’t listen to Jewel), but, for the most part, our tastes run pretty close.
So one of the things we were really looking forward to was picking songs for our reception play list. We knew our do-not-play list would be extensive, so we made sure to find a DJ we trusted to follow it. We are also giving him a list of bands/artists that are definitely okay to play, and hopefully between the two, he’ll be able to discern our tastes.
Unfortunately, a lot of our favorite bands are not wedding/dance friendly (sorry, Trent, Maynard, Thom, and Roger). We also like a lot of electronic music, but didn’t want to alienate our non-techno-loving guests. However, we did manage to come up with a decently sized list of songs that we thought would be good to hear at some point during the night and that the majority of our guests would enjoy. So, without further ado, our reception play lists:

Our furbaby Paco is always trying to get into the wedding planning. It’s very sweet, but usually he just gets in the way, or knocks things over. You know, the whole lack of opposable thumbs can be a real inconvenience. But finally, he has made his mark on the wedding (pardon the dog-pun), and now he won’t stop gloating.

It’s truly one of my favorite times of the year. I really love when the weather changes, the stores get an overload of pumpkin puree and there are articles all over the web about the perfect Thanksgiving. Sometimes, it takes a lot to step back and reflect on the great things you have. Of course, I’m human and can’t wait for the turkey yumminess. However, as you all know, there is so much more to this holiday.
As a bride, sometimes it’s hard to get my mind off of our DIY invitations, booking the limousine and updating our pristine registry. It’s hard to lay back and relax a little when things don’t seem to be going perfectly for the big day!

Mr. Taffy bought a tuxedo a week after we got engaged. We had a black tie charity event to attend that month, and he figured that he could get the most out of his tux if he bought one right away. Here’s the tux:
He did a great job choosing; I love it! Mr. Taffy spent a lot of time looking into the other details—the shirt, collar, tie, etc. All was going well. He went with one of his groomsmen to have him try on a similar style this past weekend, and the subject of shirt color came up.

Now, Mr. T has no idea about my dress style.

OMG, I am so excited to be the newest addition to the hive!! I can’t wait to travel this road with y’all in the passenger seat! I knew I wanted to be a blogger for Weddingbee the minute I logged in.
I’m a registered nurse from the Deep South. Raised in Mobile, Alabama, I’m especially fond of the beach. I moved to Georgia just over a year ago and met my soul mate shortly thereafter.
I’m a total foodie with a love for all (ok, almost all) veggies, sushi, traditional southern fare, and, of course, seafood. Crab Cake was the perfect moniker for me - it pays homage to my home town, my way of life, and one of my favorite foods.
I’m obsessed with all things crafty, but especially knitting, sewing, and quilting. I’ve committed myself to way too many DIY projects for the wedding, but that’s ok with me.
Last but definitely not least, I’m a mom. I have a 4 year old daughter who definitely tries my patience. But she’s beautiful and amazing and I wouldn’t trade her for anything.

Living in Massachusetts, my shoe wardrobe, particularly this time of year, is utilitarian and decidedly unsexy: a pair of Dansko clogs (my dog-walking shoe of choice) and a pair of Hunter boots (designed for rain, but awesome for snow). I think this is why in my wedding fantasies, I am tottering around in a pair of saucy stilettos, comfort be damned.
As I mentioned in my past post… I can’t say this enough: As soon as you set up your URL, have a few friends try to get to the site from different computers before you set up all your content. If the URL is tricky or prone to problems due to the company you chose… it’s good to know that early on, before you spend hours slaving away at your computer (but I’m not bitter).
We picked a wedding website service where I could just select a design theme and then enter text and pictures - one where we could use tools like RSVP, Guest Music Requests, etc. Mr. Snapdragon could have designed and built our own site… but that just seemed like a can o’ worms. Many props to those of you who started from scratch!!!

I don’t mean to sound horrible, but I really don’t want small children present during our wedding ceremony. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids! I just don’t want extra noise and distractions when we’ve invested so much in those few moments. I have arranged for special childcare in the nursery area of our church during the ceremony. I am looking for suggestions on ways to make parents aware that this is available and politely, but strongly encourage them to utilize this service. I was thinking of including a special insert in the invitations we send to families with young children. I’m not sure how to word them. I’m also trying to think of creative ideas to make it sound like fun, so they would prefer being in the nursery instead of the ceremony. Has anyone done something similar to this?

I stumbled upon this a while back, and absolutely LOVED this idea. In Quaker marriages, the vows are written out on a beautiful manuscript, which is signed by all the guests attending the wedding. By signing the paper, the guests are pledging to support the couple in their relationship. In the words of this certificate, “As members of a loving community, we set our hands in caring witness to this union.”

(Cheesy title, yes, but I really couldn’t help myself!)
I showed you our Save the Dates, but what I didn’t tell you is about is who’s getting them. All said and done, we’ll probably only be mailing about 12 to 15 of these babies out. Oh, and we are expecting to invite 175 - 200 people. I know it doesn’t add up, but the reason we are only sending them to a handful of guests is simple. We are only sending them to people who will have to make travel arrangements.
Most of our guests live within an hour of our wedding ceremony and reception site. And most of them are already aware of the wedding and the date it will be held, so sending them a Save the Date seems redundant and impractical. They will get their invites in late February or early March, and, to me, that seems like plenty of lead time for our close-in-distance friends and relatives to make arrangements to come.

I mentioned that we were taking formal photos during our cocktail hour. Well, some of our guests took their own portraits, using Polebridge’s unique landscape and architecture.
Here are two of my sisters/bridesmaids outside of the Northern Lights Saloon, posing on a bench with a saw blade, a shovel, an axe, and a bottle of Coca-Cola…
Before I left for my trip last week, I was so excited that Champ would finally be able to make some wedding related decisions! He’s really only been interested in a few things, and we were planning on really incorporating his interests into the trip. Unfortunately, right before we were supposed to leave, I found out that Champ wouldn’t be able to make the trip with me because of a big thing at work. Big time bummer… I was feeling a little nervous about making all of the decisions myself—most importantly the menu.
I should start this off by giving you the background of Champ’s obsession with mountain animals. Last winter as we were driving from Denver to Vail to visit my family, Champ screamed. No, not a manly scream, I’m talking a girlie-girl scream. I slammed on the brakes and nearly crashed as he yelled, “A real live buffalo!!” I looked over and he was almost in tears he was so excited, like a five year old boy. Since then, he’s had this obsession with having buffalo as part of our “mountain menu”.
You carnivores may know that buffalo, although tasty, does taste pretty similar to beef and it’s a helluva lot more expensive.
