If you are anything like me, you are so excited to ring in 2009 and ring out 2008!!
Like many of you, 2008 has had its fair share of ups and downs for Mr. Peep and I.

Here is the second and final installment of the Bee ornament exchange. The only parameters we set was that the ornament had to be under $15. Check out more bee creativity below!

Mr. Spring Roll and I made a very exciting trip yesterday, one that I have been anxiously awaiting.
If the title didn’t give it away, here’s a hint:

So, Mr. D’orsay has drafted up a few versions of our invites for you to vote on!
I don’t want to taint the vote by telling you our favorites, but I think Nick is pretty amazing because they’re all quite cute! We’ve decided to forgo the adorable pocketfolds (le sigh) and the accordion because of cost. But I’m still pretty pleased with how I think they’ll turn out.
The current plan is a chocolate color backing, with an ivory invitation card on top, quite clean and simple. So, comment below and cast your vote, we need them ASAP!

The peeps over at Foot Petals emailed us a nice thank you because our Bees have raved about Foot Petals many times on Weddingbee! They also sent us this promo code offering all our readers 30% off your next online order through December 31st — I’m ordering some right now! These are a fantastic gift for your bridesmaids — their feet will thank you!

Like all Bees before me, let me start off by saying how EXCITED I am to be here! When I found out that I was chosen to be the newest bee, I was at work and had to run into the presentation binding room to jump up and down and squeal! Stalking, err, perusing, Weddingbee is one of my favorite pastimes and I am honored to be here with all of you.
My fiancé and I decided that “Miss Quiche” suits me perfectly, as it is one of my signature dishes. I even make mini quiche for most soirées. And as you can probably tell, I am a bit of a Francophile (just call me Mademoiselle Quiche!). I studied in Lyon, France during college and it changed my life.
I am from Ohio and have been living in Chicago for the past 6 years. Ohio State is my alma mater, and I am a die-hard Buckeye fan. I am obsessed with interior design and one day (soon?) hope to work for myself full-time. My family and friends mean the world to me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I am a bookaholic and my life has been known to come to a screeching halt when engrossed in a great book (I’m talking to you, Edward Cullen, Anne Boleyn, Paulo Coelho, Jane Green and Jen Lancaster!). I tend to overuse ampersands & parenthetical phrases (but I can’t help it!).
Mr. Quiche and I met over 5 years ago and have been together for 4.

Everyone knows how amazing StillMotion’s videography is. If I had an extra $5,000 or so in the budget, I would hire them in a heartbeat! So talented!
But did you know that StillMotion ALSO does photography? Color me impressed! Check out some of my favorites from their blog.
When Obama became President-elect, Mr. G really wanted to keep a commemorative issue of the L.A. Times from November 5, 2008 showing Obama’s historic win. I was brainstorming ways to display this big piece of history without seeming over-the-top. I am sharing what I came up with because it led me to an important post-wedding project that I really want to create.
Memory box frames! (Are they even called that?) From my limited understanding, it’s the art of collecting beautiful pictures and mementos from the big day; almost like a time capsule that you put on display. I love the idea of creating one of these and either hanging it on the wall or keeping it somewhere safe for many years to come.
I am a beginner do-it-yourself girl (and probably a bit lame) so designing a memory box frame will be a small challenge. You can probably pay someone to do this in L.A., but I refuse! It would defeat the purpose anyway. I can’t wait to create ours. Here are the items I want to put in it:

Hey everyone, remember me? *waves sheepishly* Hope you’re having a happy holiday!
I’m sorry to have been so incommunicado since my last post. I’ve been in Chicago, which is super fun and exciting, but has provided precious little downtime in which to sit and organize my thoughts, much less write about them. But, I’m feelin’ the sentimental New Years Eve-ness today, and wanted to throw in one last post for 2008.
Each year around this time, I evaluate my accomplishments, missteps, goals, dreams and overall satisfaction level so that I can get my focus up and look toward my new year. I’m a real sap about new beginnings and possibility, and firmly believe in the law of attraction (aka you gotta recognize before ya realize), so I love to take some time and reevaluate my path, formulate goals, and put forth positive energy toward the new year.
Looking back at the past year is really interesting, because some things developed in my life that were unexpected, and have offered more opportunity and satisfaction than I ever imagined. Previous goals fell away and were replaced with new ones. My path went deliciously off course and I took a fork in the road which has led me to a new and un-navigated terrain. In short, it was a year of becoming.
First, I became a bride.

Hi hive. It’s Miss Champagne. Remember me? The holidays have come and gone and a lot has happened! I’ve consumed more champagne and holiday cookies than I would like to admit. Any previously lost pounds have been gained back, Champ finally revealed our honeymoon destination (I whined so much that he told me!), and our invites are in the mail! Following the Christmas rush, I started to reconsider my thoughts about a wedding around the holiday season. I mean, c’mon—turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy—how is a girl to say no?!
My plan was to share our invites with you, but I got a new camera for Christmas and I’m still not quite sure how it all works so in the meantime I’ll share some winter wedding inspiration for you fellow brides who may have forgotten why we picked the food-filled holiday season to tie the knot. Here’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout:
One of the best ideas Snapsisters L and A have had (my two MOHs) was to throw me a lingerie shower while I was in Texas. This was SO NICE of them, and an added benefit was that all but two of my sisters could attend. The lingerie shower turned into a bit of a bachelorette party, which meant that any Snapsisters who can’t make it up to Chicago (highly likely) for my bachelorette party could partake in bachelorette festivities. The Snapsisses went way over the top; two of our friends were able to come, too…. and I was definitely showered in sexay, tiny gifts. Very tiny. Get back to work, Mr. Dragon.
The entire shower took place at a popular Dallas destination called The Gaylord Resort. The agenda called for drinks at the Glass Cactus, ice sculpture-gazing at the onsite exhibit, gifts of a lingerie nature, and then a slumber party in the hotel room! The Snapsisters went way over the top, and we had a wonderful time. Let’s begin!
Unbeknownst to us, there was a show scheduled for the night of our party at The Glass Cactus. It was HI-larious. Please, scantily clad ladies dancing to “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy.” Massive photo texting ensued!

Good things come in pairs! Help me welcome our newest destination wedding bee, Miss Quiche!

Miss Quiche, Chicago/Montego Bay
Age & Occupation: 28, Interior Designer
Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 42, Telecom Guru
Engagement Date: July 2, 2008
Wedding Date: May, 2009
Venue: Coyaba Resort, Montego Bay
About Me: I love Chicago and can’t imagine living anywhere else (Well, except Paris. Or anywhere in France, for that matter!). I’m a full-time worker, part-time student, soon-to-be-step-mom, indie music lovin’, architecture and design fanatic, macaroni and cheese addict, vegetarian, Francophile, Ohio State football obsessed, wedding planning girl. Mr. Quiche and I are “Partners-in-Crime” and cannot wait to celebrate our marriage surrounded by our family and closest friends. I plan on DIYing my little heart out (or as much as a suitcase to Jamaica will hold).
If you can name the movie that I stole that title from, you get mad props.
In any case, today I will tell you the story of how Mr. D’orsay and I met.
I had been living/working in Tucson, Arizona (GO WILDCATS!) and had traveled a TON in the past month or so. So much, that I had several open suitcases form various trips that I had been cannibalizing into other suitcases because I didn’t even have time for laundry. I received a call from my boss asking if I could do her a favor and fly to Austin, TX for a few days. As I had always wanted to go to Austin, I immediately said yes!
The next day instead of taking my 5PM flight that would get me into Austin at midnight, I went standby on an earlier flight and ended up in Austin around 7pm. I met up with my friends who were in town and we headed out to dinner and then to the bars. We all decided to go upstairs and just as I turned the corner I was hit in the face with an elbow! I could see it belonged to a tall attractive man, so we struck up a conversation.
A few hours later after we had been talking non-stop, his friends had to leave; they were all from the UK and were in town for the South by Southwest interactive conference and they all had an early start the next day. I kept dropping vague hints about hoping to see him again, that I’d probably be out again the next night, etc. But to my dismay, he left.

Hello All!
My fiance and I got engaged two months ago and we are really ahead of the game (I think) as far as planning goes. We are getting married 8/29/09 and I have been very excited about everything until a couple of days ago and now I need some help! My brother and sister-in-law just announced that they are expecting another child who will be born in August. My best friend also got engaged on Christmas Day but said that she wanted to wait until after my wedding to get married. When she called today, she said that they are now planning on a July 25th or early August wedding and she keeps talking about how great her wedding will be. Since these two things have come up, I have been really jealous. I know I am being silly but I just can’t help it! I feel like these two things are taking away from my day that I had planned first. Please help me to understand. I know that I am not acting right but it just bothers me.

Dear jessie4212,
Unfortunately, you get a wedding day, not a wedding week or a wedding month or a wedding year. We brides may feel like our weddings are at the center of the universe, but unfortunately life continues for everyone else in the meantime, for good or for ill.
