About Mrs. Peep Toe

Timing is Everything

December 1st, 2008 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Everyone knows that timing is everything in a relationship. When I met Mr. Peep Toe I was ready to meet him, and he was ready to meet me. In fact, I had made a deal with myself to accept every invitation I received to go out in order to meet someone.

I had just moved to San Francisco, and I barely knew a soul other than Big Sister Peep Toe and all of her friends. And if I hadn’t honored my own deal- there is no way that Mr. PT and I would have met watching football. At a Steelers bar. On a Sunday morning.

As I said before we met at a bar watching the Steelers in the playoffs. Mr. PT’s best friend is a HUGE Steelers fan, and my new roommate grew up in Pittsburg. So they both dragged us to the bar on a Sunday morning to watch the playoffs. These folks had been watching the entire season together and they were crazy excited that Pittsburg had made the playoffs- and then they won!! It was so much fun I found myself going back to watch each playoff game, and I didn’t know it at the time, but Mr. PT kept coming back to see me.

That is until I realized that the Steelers were going to play Seattle in the Superbowl. My Seattle. So, I had to jump ship; I told everyone that I couldn’t watch the Superbowl with them. And somehow without me even realizing it, I gave Mr. PT my number- loser buys a round. I never bought that round of drinks I promised, but now you know that it is possible to meet someone at a bar.

Timing is also everything in deciding on a date for a wedding. When Mr. Spice and I got engaged we already had FIVE weddings to go to over summer and fall 2008. Including Sister Peep Toe’s wedding.

I heart fall. I still wish I were a fall bride. I mean check out these beautiful wedding details!!! I love the wheat details. Very modern and organic looking, just my style.

Pictures 2 and 6 are from Design*Sponge. The rest are from Project Wedding.

But unfortunately, Mr. PT works 24/7 during olive harvest season which falls from October to January. Total no go. He wouldn’t be able to help with anything, and a honeymoon, forget about it. So then our engagement quickly spiraled from the 10 month affair that I envisioned to 17 months!!! Not only is Mr. PT a slave to the season, Poppy PT is a Tax Accountant. Any daughter of an accountant knows- from about Feb. to April 15th- he’s attached to his desk.

So spring it is!! May to be exact!! And because Mr. PT knows how to make a girl happy- we are getting married the end of May just so we can (cross your fingers) have dahlias at our wedding.

So here is a sneak peak at the very first inspiration board I did when we decided to have a spring wedding!

Pic 3 and 6 are from J. Crew. Pic 5 is from Real Simple Weddings. And Pic Sixteen is from Miette. All other images from Project Wedding.

I can promise that at least one of the pictures above will be duplicated for our wedding.

Is your engagement longer than you want? Did you have a hard time figuring out what season to get married in? Was it all based on someone else’s schedule??

Ugh! Ours will be 21 months total! I wanted to finish my current grad program before we got married so I was not a crazed full-time student/full-time employee. I wish we were already married!

I love your story of how you met…fate:)

forty five months. ouch. But, I completely concur with Erin– I am in grad school and will finish first, so we are timing on my school schedule. The mister is a grad student as well, but he’s in a PhD program with no foreseeable end, so we aren’t waiting for him.

I love the second inspiration board! I wish those green patent leather mary janes from JCrew had lower heels– I’d totally wear them under my wedding dress! Too bad the mister isn’t too much taller than me!

I proposed (yes, *I* proposed) on Oct 17, 2008. Our wedding date is October 10, 2010. Talk about forEVER.

We had a number of reasons for ultimately deciding on a long engagement. We want to live together first (I’m moving in officially January 1st, 2009!), and we wanted to be financially stable enough to throw the kind of wedding we’d (OK, *I’d*) always dreamed of.

Some days I wish we could just elope and tie the knot in flip flops and jeans on a beach somewhere. Then I remember the fun I’m having planning with my mom and sister, the time I’ve put into everything already, and I wonder how I’ll EVER get it all done in only two years!!!

I’m the opposite of you. I’ve always wanted to be a spring bride since it’s my favorite season. I’m getting married in fall, mainly because I didn’t want a terribly long engagement. We got engaged in September ‘08 and will be married in November ‘09. Anything longer would make me pull my hair out, because I change my mind too often.

Oooooh! I love your inspiration board. I’m going with a similar green and I love the punch of color you added to it. Mr. DE and I considered a fall wedding, too, but decided on May because of his work schedule.

And of course I love the story of how you met because it involves football and the Steelers ;-) However, the timing aspect makes it sweet, too!

Another Bee romance made possible by the Steelers! (Miss Deviled Egg met her fiance at a Steelers victory parade!) As a Pittsburgh bride, I can’t help but feel proud :)

We wanted to get married in the fall, and are getting married in May as well. I am really starting to get excited about the “spring” aspect of it. Great flowers are in season, and we will spend our first married months during my favorite time of the year! If we were married in fall, winter would come way too soon! I can’t stand the winters in Michigan.

We also are also on the road of a long engagement. My fiance proposed May 08 and we will be getting married Sept 09. Similar to some of the ladies above, I’m a grad student and we wanted to get married after I graduate. So thus comes the long planning process, which is fun but we have our moments that we just wish we could get married tomorrow. But I am having fun with more time to look at all my wedding blogs that have become an addiction, plus creating my own just because.

I love you inspiration board for the spring though. I’m excited to hear all about the details. Also, love how you got the green peep toes into the board that match your picture!

I totally wanted to get married in the summer, because that’s the only time when it’s not raining in Seattle! But since I work in the wedding industry, that would have meant getting married–and planning a wedding–at my crazy time of year.

So we opted for an early spring wedding. It will be indoors (boo!) and not at my fave time of year, but at least I’ll be able to focus on it and enjoy it since it will be when my workload is light…

We’re actually having a short engagement (7 months) but like you, I wanted a fall wedding. However, between college football and harvest season, that was out of the question! We finally settled on summer mostly because it would be the best time for our dad’s who are both farmers.

We’re going for the long engagement, engaged August 2007 and the wedding will be Sept 2010. Initially the plan was to wait 3 years so we would be living in the place we will get married and have a May wedding then I started a PhD program where we live now which means it will be a destination wedding in my home state for us and his half of the guests as well as some of mine so we moved to September becasue the chance of rain is less than May. I really wanted a summer (July/August) wedding but flights are twice as expensive and our venue is more flexible on time after labor day so we moved to September. I just want to ger married now or Sept. 2009 but our venue is booked through 2009 and has been since the begining of 2008!

I wanted to be a fall bride too! I was shooting for 10/10/09. Since many of our friends/family are teachers or grad students we had to work around US, UK and Australian (my MOH) school holidays. It was crazy, but I’m glad we found a date that works for most people. I thought picking the date was the easy part!

ps. Miss. Peep Toe, how did Mr.PT become a Olive Oil production manager? Or really, how does anyone become one?
