Save the Dates

December 2nd, 2008 @ 1:04 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

The save the dates are ready to put in the mail. We decided that the magnets we ordered definitely needed a little card with all the good details in black and white (or ivory rather), since the details were a little hard to read on the magnet itself. Because we changed our color scheme a few times, we ended up with 175 pocketfold invitations from Gartner Studios that needed a use… and so they became the little carriers for our STDs (Ha ha, that’s funny stuff right there!). Last week, I dropped the inserts off at the printer’s and Mr. Crab Cake picked them up yesterday. They look great!

This morning we sat around and played cut and paste. OK, not so much cutting. But we pasted. I glued the inserts to the pocketfolds and Mr. Crab Cake stuffed the magnets in and put them in their envelopes. Then we printed our guest list on clear mailing labels from Avery and stuck those on.

Here’s the inside:

Pretty, huh?

Here’s the magnet:

They aren’t as easy to read in real life as they are online, which is a little depressing.  That is why we added the pocketfold and card, so there is no confusion. They are cute anyway… and they weren’t all that expensive.

Here they are, sealed and ready to send:

Yay!

Did you order paper products to find out they were illegible or had issues?  What did you do to remedy the situation?

Yeah, our first go at Save the Date postcards were virtually illegible. They were from Vistaprint, and we used a picture in grayscale as the background, and it just all melded together. We ended up reprinting them (thank goodness it was super cheap!)– changed the font, lightened the background, and well, they’re still probably a little tough to read but the main info got across.

We’re trying to do magnet STDs, too! Which company did you use?

@Wiglet: I used VistaPrint, but I wasn’t super pleased with the quality. It might have been the way I did it, cause I just uploaded the photo to their site and then added text. It would probably be better to upload the final copy, like add the text in Photoshop or paint.net (which is what I use)
