About Mrs. Crab Cake

Our Venues

December 3rd, 2008 @ 3:22 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

Lots of couples struggle with finding the perfect venue. We didn’t.

Mr. Crab Cake and I are members of The Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Neither of us grew up in the church, but we made it our home parish together, joining the parish as a couple. The Church was built in 1835 and dedicated in 1890, and was recently renovated. The church is downright gorgeous. I apologize for the quality of the pictures, as flash photography isn’t allowed, and my camera sucks.

They’ve added wrought iron gates to the front of the church since I took these pictures. I love our church and didn’t think twice about sitting down with our priest within weeks of our engagement to book the ceremony there.

The reception venue was equally simple. You see, Mr. Crab Cake works for the National Infantry Museum. As an employee of the foundation, he was able to score us use of the Main Gallery for our reception for free. Yeah, our reception venue is free. What budget bride would turn down that opportunity? It’s not our ideal venue, but who can beat the price?

There is just one problem with the museum.

It’s still under construction. We have no idea what we’re working with. Mr. Crab Cake did sneak in and take some pictures of the room we’ll be in. But it’s still in the drywall stages.

It’s kind of a scary knowing the wedding is seven months away and our venue isn’t done yet. It’s scheduled to open on March 20th… I just hope everything goes smoothly.

What makes you most uneasy about your wedding venue?

How lucky for you! I bet the museum space will be stunning. Its kinda fun having it be mysterious, no?

I just love our space… my only concern is that I’m too excited to wait anymore!

Your church looks gorgeous! That *is* a little nerve-wracking about the construction, but I’m sure it will all work out!

I’m sure that your reception hall will be just fine - if not we’re here to help you decorate it up a bit! :)

Free venue! Woohoo! I love it. My ring ceremony location was under construction but was finished right on time. Crossing my fingers for you! It’ll be gorgeous no matter what. When everyones dancing, who cares if they can see the exposed rafters?

@Mrs. Avocado: I’m not sure they’ll be exposed, remember the museum is still three months from finished.

@Bean: Thanks! I can’t wait to enlist y’alls help
