Many of you have asked about my dress so I wanted to give you all the details. As you might remember, I really wanted to rent my wedding dress or buy a used dress. I just couldn’t get on board with spending such a crazy amount of money on one item and I really wanted to do something good for the environment.
After much searching and frustration I was still empty handed.
When I was home in Minnesota for Christmas last year with my mom we stopped in to the only bridal boutique in the area, David’s Bridal. I ended up finding the perfect dress there. I was a bit disappointed that I had found a very non-ecofriendly dress (brand new, mass produced from a major chain) but I knew that I didn’t have the patience to keep looking.
I didn’t want to post a picture of my dress before the wedding because Mr. PN is a daily reader, so I offered the hive a hint. A combination of these two dresses:

My dress from David’s Bridal is style #T9512 in ivory with a champagne sash. It is described on the DB website as an “allover beaded lace trumpet with illusion halter neckline and matching sash with a chapel train.”

I also must thank my fabulous seamstress. I bought the dress in Minnesota but I brought it back to NYC with me to be altered. I asked around my office for suggestions and found the amazing Bevin Dillon. Bevin designs dresses including bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses. She also does alterations on the side.
I was thrilled when she agreed to do the alterations on my wedding dress and offered me such a reasonable price! I had a total of four fittings and she let me store my dress there from June until the wedding in October! This was great since Mr. PN was so afraid of seeing it! While DB designed the dress, Bevin really deserves the credit for making it fit me so well. She transformed this dress so it fit me perfectly. I was worried about the halter because it might pull on my neck and give me a headache but the dress fit so well through my waist and chest that it stayed up without even being hooked, which meant it didn’t pull at all! She even sewed my bra into the dress so it wouldn’t ride up and peek out during the day!

After the wedding I promptly donated my dress to Brides Against Breast Cancer. I hope another bride enjoys this dress as much as I did!
