Mr. Tiramisu and I attended our seventh- and last(!) wedding of 2008 this past weekend. We headed up to Philadelphia to celebrate the wedding of Mr. T’s cousin. After a beautiful ceremony at St. Timothy’s, the celebration moved downtown to the gorgeous Curtis Center. And let me just say, wow! What a beautiful venue. After an extravagant cocktail hour we moved into the Atrium for the reception. The bride and groom had their first dance and we were all seated for dinner.
Right after the salads were served, there was an announcement of a special dedication. We listened to the announcer, (who happened to be the voice of the Philadelphia Flyers!) and were shocked when he started describing a wedding that had taken place on July 19th of this year.
He told the crowd that the bride and groom had attended a wedding on the coast of Maine, where a huge storm had knocked out the power and left the band unable to play the couple’s first dance song. Mr. Tiramisu and I were stunned as he then called out our names and invited us out to the dance floor so that we could finally share our first dance! The song that we had originally chosen, Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is” started playing, and tears were streaming down my face as we walked to the center of the dance floor.

I was shocked, amazed, and so incredibly honored. Thank you a million times, Maggie and Kevin, it was a truly magical moment that we’ll never forget.
