Dancing in the Rain

December 4th, 2008 @ 10:32 am by Mrs. Crab Cake

While June is probably not the rainiest month in Columbus, it definitely rains. Daily. Anytime between 2 and 6. For about an hour-ish. Sometimes it’s just one big torrential downpour, lasting about 12 minutes on average (and yes, that is a very accurate statisitic, right out of my head, based on years of living in the south, and therefore years of research). Other times, we actually get a decent rain. The problem is, you never know. A rain cloud can pop up out of nowhere and all of the sudden you are stuck in the rain.

So, I am seriously concerned about the fact that our brief window before the ceremony for photo-ops may be eaten up with rain. And the only thing that makes me feel better about this, is fantastically cute bride with umbrella photos.

How sweet are these umbrellas from SignatureBella?

While this is completely out of my price range (at a whooping $96.00 each!!), I love love love the shape of that umbrella. It’s so vintage!

BellaUmbrella has a rental option, with way more reasonable prices. I love this umbrella; it has that same vintage shape, which is apparently referred to as Pagoda style.

Here’s a feathered option for those modern brides

Got to love the polka dots

Umbrellas.net has this lovely lace umbrella

And for the classic umbrella image, here’s a clear umbrella

I really love the idea of renting those gorgeous pagoda umbrellas from BellaUmbrella. I don’t think I would rent one for each of my girls (there’s 6), but maybe 3? What do you think? Will you be getting umbrellas for your wedding day?

I’ve already convinced myself that it will definitely rain on my wedding day (late May, Cleveland, OH). These umbrellas make me feel a little bit better about it!

we spent over $200 in matching umbrellas for our entire wedding party- that were used for one photo because the rain was driving sideways (rendering them useless). Hopefully it won’t rain, but I would definitely look more into alternative indoor, sheltered locations, than spend a ton of money. I do love that pagoda one, though! :)

Any knitters out there who know what that shrug pattern is? It sort of looks like pomatomus….

Those umbrella shots are so cute!

And I totally have the first bride’s umbrella! Got it at Target for $12, and I get compliments on it whenever I use it.

I love umbrellas. I think Avo used an umbrella in some of her shots as well. The clear one would look great in pictures…and so would the polka dot one.

Hi, as the photographer in the third photo I also love umbrella shots - the black and white umbrellas happen to be my own - I keep them in the car just incase it rains. I always find out before shooting a wedding the colour of the brides dress and if possible I get a umbrella to match - its a small investment but one that the brides really seem to like. Dont be afraid of the rain or doing your pictures outside in the rain they sometimes make for the best photos on the day. The picture above (#3) ended up as the cover shot on this couples wedding album.
