In case I don’t lose an inch before the wedding day…
The “Higher Power” power panties, to be exact. They totally give me flashbacks of the ’80s (think spandex biker shorts).
They are a lil’ hard to get on, but once they’re on… wow, do they do wonders. Did I lose 5 pounds? No. But they totally sucked everything in and smoothed me out. No back rolls for me! This particular day I had a baby shower to attend and I wore them ALL day, just to see how they held up. I was taking lots of photos, running all over the room and kneeling a lot. I think I had to tug them up maybe once, but nothing major; they weren’t rolling down or anything. Considering I was doing a lot of kneeling then standing, kneeling then standing, I think they did great.
You guys better love me for posting this photo. LOL. Just to prove that it really does suck fat and skin in, I had Mr. Sushi take a photo of my Spanx semi-rolled down (and pushing all my fat out)…
Wishin’ I could wear them under a swimsuit!
Are you sportin’ the pretty undies on your wedding day or going granny panties and lookin’ thin?!

I love spanx - my only problem is they push my back fat up around the top and I get a muffin up there! That picture rules, and you’re awesome. I think its funny to pee through the spanx-hole
ok- so I totally have to ask this- kind of personal I guess- but often when I wear any kind of “slimmer”, specifically anything that goes over the tummy, gives me a tummy ache by the end of the day. Anyone else experience this? I haven’t tried spanx yet, so maybe it’s not an issue with them…

@Miss Meatball:There is a “Spanx-hole” you pee through? OMG! I am equally amused and disturbed by that. I’ve never worn Spanx before, so I had no idea.
There’s a hole to pee through???!?!!! i have that, but i haven’t wore it nor tried it on….oooohhhh first thing i got home tonite, FIND THE PEE HOLE!!! =D
@Miss Meatball: @Miss Deviled Egg: @chyyfire: Ahhh yes, the pee hole! LoL. After struggling to get the Spanx on, the pee hole is genius! There is no way I’d be able to squeeze in and out of that thing a few times a day to relieve myself.
I DO love you for posting that! I have the exact same ones (in black) and wear them all the time. Those strappy do’s you’re supposed to hook around your bra to keep them up don’t work for me, but they stay up pretty well…I wear them for every fancy thing I go to…and they will definitely be under my wedding dress!

I got the cheaper version of Spanx available at Target, and they don’t seem to do the same magic as real Spanx! My tummy is my problem area, and I feel like there’s not much support there. I’ve never tried Spanx, but they just look like the better option.
you are so awesome and brave for posting the last picture! I wear spanx as much as possible and will definitely wear them on my day.. unless, i miraculously lose the 50 lbs i’m trying to!
Just a hint for ladies who may be wearing a dress of thinner material - this spanx, the “higher power” has a center seam (which you can see in the awesome photographic evidence!) that you may see through your gown.
I was on the fence between this one and the one without the seam (and with the bra thingies that sweetestdaybride mentioned) because the one with no seam is a lot more expensive - $65 I think? It turned out that you could clearly see the seam and it looked a lot better to not wear them. I couldn’t return them though, because they’d already been taken out of the package and tried on :\
So, I guess I just want to put it out there for the other brides who may have not thought of it yet.
(And the spanx have been worn - and they really are comfortable and awesome. They even make your butt look good, too. I just couldn’t wear this pair on the wedding day.)

@leslie: Nah, not at Target. I got the slimcognito on the Spanx site and it was $72! But, totally worth it.

Can someone do a tutorial on spanx? I don’t even know where to get them besides the website. Miss Sushi your so awesome for putting up the pics and you sold me. I just tried my wedding gown on today and the area that I need help in?- the gut- so I am gettin me some spanx!
Yay for posting completely unflattering photos of yourself online. You’re obviously slender, but you are right, that is what Spanx do. I remember reading once about a girl who wouldn’t sleep with her boyfriend because she always wore spanx and she was afraid to let him see her naked in them. they really aren’t a pretty sight
You can get the Spanx at Nordstrom’s.
you can also get SPANX at the Sack’s 5th Ave. Outlet, Off Sacks. I ordered mine through the website and then saw them at the outlet about a week later for half what I paid. The selection was not as great as http://www.spanx.com but they had a decent selection and I found my size in higher power.
I’ve had the tummy ache effect with other things but not with Spanx, I wore mine twice so far under a dress to attend a wedding and for my epics. I wore underwear under mine because the pee hole under a dress left me feeling a bit too exposed.
I swear by my spanx, I wear them daily, I now have about 8 pair :o. Some of my friends hate them, but I don’t find them uncomfortable at all, once you get used to them, they just feel like underwear. The bra is also AMAZING, I love mine and so does the tatas!
@Miss Sushi: okay this whole “pee hole” thing kind of scares me… but I’m also intrigued. I may have to try these bad boys.

@Andrea: I get that too with control-top pantyhose… one of the reasons I’ve never tried Spanx. They do sound like they’re worth checking out, though, despite this rather frightening-sounding pee hole everyone’s talking about!
