OMG What is That?

December 5th, 2008 @ 3:12 pm by Mrs. Crab Cake

Back in August I went to go pick up my dress. My child was “sick”, so she went with me.

It looks so much better with the crinoline on underneath.

But, OMG, what is that??

What you can’t see in these pictures is that there is makeup or something on my dress. A great big blob of it. Not a smudge from my face or something.

Right about there.

The bridal shop freaked. I was okay, and they said they would take care of it.

And they did… Alfred Angelo is sending me a brand-new dress!

Did your dress come in with problems? What did you/the shop do to remedy the situation?

My dress didn’t COME with any problems, but when I tried it on for my first fitting, my freshly applied lipstick (what was I thinking?) rubbed off on the inside of my dress! I panicked, and the wonderful girls at my bridal store used three applications of stain remover to get it out! It took them all day, because they had to let my dress dry in between applications, but now the only person who can tell it was there was me. Phew!

And you are gorgeous in your dress! It reminds me a lot of my Sottero and Midgley. Love the sparkles and corset back!

Wait, that’s your dress, and it is an Alfred Angelo? I wore an absolutely identical (I mean IDENTICAL down to every single detail I can see in the picture) and it was a Maggie Sottero. Is it common for the same dress to be sold by two different designers?

my dress had a pen mark on it right under the arm area of my dress… when they sent it for alterations they steamed it right out!

Julie - I think a lot of the bridal designers outsource designs to China, so the same factory (and sometimes designer) may be producing dresses for multiple lines. I think I read that in a book about the wedding industry….

I want your dress. Seriously. It has everything that I have been looking for: the train, the corset back, the beading, the shape, the color. Happy Sigh! Where exactly did you get it? I am a southern belle bride willing to travel for that dress! Plus, I have tried on about 8 thousand others that were far from THE DRESS! HELP ME!

I’m sorry to hear about your dress issue and am very happy they have been resolved!! My dress came in 6 ( yes 6) sizes too small. I freaked , called the company , they tried to assure me everything will be fine but i’ve located a fall-back dress. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my dress is finished in time.

I am also an Alfred Angelo bride (another gown syle though) and it came in fitting perfectly which is amazing since I am only 5′2″.
The bridemaids gowns were another story. 2 out of the 3 do not fit (I mean really don’t fit!)and my girls were all measured IN THE STORE. Alfred Angelo says they will fix the problem and I’m counting on them to follow through! Keeping my fingers crossed……..

@laura: It’s Alfred Angelo, style 1136. I’m not sure where you are, but if you get on their website (Alfred Angelo), it will tell you exactly where you can find their dresses. Good Luck!

Totally random question… but are you having a ring bearer? I know that’s so random huh? I just started thinking about it when I saw the pics of your daughter. I have a little boy who is obviously going to be our king of rings :) and a huge part of the ceremony and wedding in general. I don’t know ANYONE else who has a babe and is getting married!! My mom swears we shouldn’t have a flowergirl(s) because then it would make my son be more significant (?) but I just don’t know what to do….
Are you doing anything unique for the ceremony/reception with her? My ex is planning on signing off the rights so my fiance can adopt my son (I know, shocking! but he doesn’t do anything anyways!) so we want to make it a sort of “joining ceremony” since the adoption won’t yet be complete.
So much to think about. “Normal” brides have it hard, but “mommy” brides have it WAY harder!!

OH and the dress and your daughter (and of course her mommy!) are gorgeous! I’m so excited there’s a mommy bee blogging!
