About Mrs. Bee

Time for Another Batch!

December 8th, 2008 @ 5:56 pm by Mrs. Bee

When we introduced shoes, you guys went totally gaga over them!  Mrs. Penguin and I thought that stiletto would be the first to be snatched right up.

Time for Another Batch! : wedding announcements Shoes.jpg

But the shoes have actually been some of our least popular characters to date, with new bees opting to be hors d’oeurves or makeup instead.  We got to talking, and neither Mrs. Penguin or I could see ourselves as a shoe either.  I mean you gotta have a certain type of personality to want to be Miss Stiletto, ;) and I think the Bees really pick characters that they identify with in some way.

So I think it may be time to start thinking about our next batch of characters for the new year!  We’ve already done bugs, flowers, fruits, gems, vegetables, candy, birds, desserts, tropical fruit, drinks, hors d’oeurves, shoes, and makeup.

Some popular ideas that have been tossed around in the past include spices, nuts, herbs, and trees, but we’ve always opted not to do them because they all look so similar. Animals and sea creatures have come up as well, but we’ve tried to keep the characters somewhat wedding related (this is still definitely an option though).   Perhaps seasonal icons like Miss Snowflake, Leaf, Sunshine, Dew Drop, Rainbow?

If you were to become a Bee, what character would you want to be?

I think I would like to be a zodiac sign. Either one of our birth signs or the sign of our wedding date.

Bee what would you be if you weren’t a bee? Something spicy, like a chili pepper? I can’t see myself as anything but a waddling little bird either. Maybe a duck. Miss Ducky.

What about various berries… would they be hard to differentiate? Obviously we have some berries already, so that might not be a great category…

What about drink garnishes? Olive, Maraschino cherry, whipped cream, cranberry, mint, cinnamon stick, etc

a lot of these are already actual bees!

OK, I am an alcoholic. Byeeeeee!

Oh! Signs! Well I don’t blog. So I can’t be a Bee. (Boo… but a girl has to keep her head on straight during grad school! Though I have been on this site religously)
Things I love if I were to be anything, would be a sign- such as a chinese character (I am a monkey btw).
But I also like descriptors. Such as *sparkles*, or breezy, cloudy, congenial, chime, earthy, sweet, hot tamale.
Animals? Bunny, Fawn, Owl, Bear…
Fish? Starfish, horsefish, Otter?
You could do colors- or Pies!
I tend to do ridiculous things when I am in writers block– like put a post it that stimulates my thinking (ex sensual chocolate)… Oh— you could do chocolates!
But I am unique like that. =o)

I like Bee’s idea of the season and Peng’s garnishments but you can’t forget Tabasco a la Mrs. Bee herself. Or just colors?

Oh, or celebratory paraphernalia? Does that make sense? Miss sparkler, confetti, balloons, bubbles…

Or, popular types of wedding favors?

Thinking out loud here.

@guarder: Haha, no offense taken!

I think the idea behind the birds were that birds are a popular wedding “theme” of late :) But yes, penguins are definitely NON wedding related!

Miss d’Orsay for sure! Though I suppose that doesn’t really help since we’re looking at non shoe options.

I like drink garnishes though, its quite creative. I suppose there are always colors to be done, scarlet, lavender, perriwinkle etc.

what about craft supplies (glue, yarn, ribbon, scissors, rubber stamp, thimble, quill, paintbrush…)?

or games (horseshoes, hopscotch, 4 square, jump rope, marbles, billiards, chess, poker…)?

or lucky charms (rainbow, horseshoe, four leaf clover, rabbit’s foot, coin, star, wishbone…)?

How about weather? That’s a real issue for weddings:). Rain, Sun, Snow, Stormy, Balmy, Humid, Breezy….

Maybe instead of just “animals” you could break it down into different types. I like sea creatures or even jungle animals would be fun. I can already think of some ones I would want to choose.

On a wedding theme…kitchen items like from a registry or when you do a themed shower? Ok maybe a little wierd, but think of the possibilities: Miss Spatula, Miss Fork, Miss Mixer, Miss Rolling Pin, Miss Cookie Sheet…haha.

Or bathroom registry items: Miss Towel, Miss Plunger, Miss Toothbrush? Miss Soap Dispenser…Just Kidding! Can you tell it’s been a long day?

But being serious I like different animal themes.

I’m not sure how this could be represented in an icon, but I thought various types of poetry would be cute. Miss Haiku? Miss Limerick? Mrs. Sonnet? That would be pretty neat!

Another idea would be to go with some pajama/undergarment icons. You could have a Miss Corset, Miss Garter, Mrs. Babydoll, even Miss Petticoat or Miss Pantaloon! There could also be Mrs. Camisole or Mrs. Slip too. I think there’s plenty of classy and cute options without resulting to a ‘Miss G-Sting’ or anything like that.

I would absolutely be a cowboy boot, but I think that’s because I’m from Texas! :)

Maybe cake flavors? German Chocolate, Confetti, Angel Food, Red Velvet…ok, I’m going to go make some brownies now!

the seasonal and nut ideas are great. i also like locations (beach, mountains, dessert, lake shore, hill top, downtown, uptown, etc), fabric/pattern (polka dot, damask, paisley, cashmere, cotton, chiffon, hounds tooth, plaid, gingham, etc), and i would love purses (clutch, messenger, handbag, satchel, tote, etc)

guarder says… wedding related? I don’t think the icon needs to be wedding related. I think it should just be a cute way of relating to a person… But so be it… Hmm- What about firefly? Butterfly? Those might be at weddings… Or a Hankerchief… Doilies? Ohhhh. Fabric! Miss Lace, Miss Silk, Miss Cotton, Miss Doilie, or Miss Chifon! Candles-Miss Flame? Miss Starry Skies? Miss Fleur de Leis? Miss Peace (as in peace sign). Miss Pearl…
*Do I get a prize for coming up with the most ideas??? ;o)
