My Little (Wedding-Day) Pretties

December 9th, 2008 @ 6:01 pm by Mrs. Shortcake

My birthday gift from Mr. Shortcake has arrived - a new lens! I thought I’d take the opportunity to test out all 85mm of its goodness on some wedding paraphernalia. No photos were taken of my getting-ready details, so I’ve decided to take photos of the pieces I have left (some items are back in BC or were destroyed by the wedding-day storm).

Back row, left to right: The corsage Mr. Shortcake’s Nana gave me at my Winnipeg shower; a Sophie Conran pitcher from our registry, stuffed with the lace and ribbons used on my petticoats; an old “Great Love Stories of All Time” novel from the 1950s; a little pink address book from my shower which holds all of our guests’ addresses; a starfish from our Hawaiian honeymoon; two anemone candle holders with the same satin flowers I used on my DIY wedding shoes

Front row:A children’s bible given to me by my dearly departed Yaya; my wedding day perfume/signature scent, Chanel’s ’Coco Mademoiselle’; coral from our trip to Greece when we first started dating; shells and pearls from Hawaii (like the ones my bridesmaids wore); satin bow from my garter; vintage 1950s brooch I attached to my bouquet handle (the bouquet was wrapped in long ivory ribbon); cupcake liner filled with vintage milnery accents I used on my shoes and garters; a Japanese cherry blossom dish from Hawaii; an anemone tea light holder holding my wedding rings; silver heart lockets from Mr. Shortcake, my father’s old girlfriend, and from a bridesmaid

I loved all of the wee, pretty details of my wedding-day ensemble. Everything was excruciatingly feminine, oh-so-painfully cute. I can’t wait to put it all on again for our reshoot, and this time, enjoy myself! :)

P.S. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way of storing your rings, look at your tea light holder collection! I’m keeping mine in a clear, blown-glass anemone - pretty, and functional. And cheap. I think it cost me… three dollars? Something ridiculous like that.

What did you do with your wedding-day accessories after your wedding?

I’m having a beach wedding and we’re going with turquoise for our accent color. Seeing pink with the shells in your pictures makes me want to change our colors! All of your wedding day accessories are beautiful!

What kind of camera do you have? I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT (yeah, old school, I know). I used to love my 50mm lens before I dropped it. :(
