Mr. Candy Corn being a smirkypants on the eve of our wedding.
I apologize for the delay in my beecaps! I know, I know, no excuses! In all honesty though, I’ve been job hunting (with no luck) non-stop during my free time, which hasn’t left me with much of a life. I’ll get down to business now and start recapping our lovely rehearsal dinner, which took place at Teikoku Restaurant and was hosted by Mr. CC’s parents.
Our guests chose from one of the following for each course:
1st course:
House green salad, crispy goat cheese with a yuzu dressing
Crispy calamari tossed in mixed green salad and vegetables in a spicy lime dressing
2nd course:
Seasonal exotic sushi
3rd course:
Roasted salmon with assorted vegetables in a red curry brandy sauce
Shrimp pad Thai
Vegetable fried rice served with a green curry cognac sauce
4th course:
6 ounce grilled filet mignon served in a spicy teriyaki sauce
Chicken teriyaki served sautéed string beans and rice
Dessert:
Crème brulee
Teikoku soufflé
The food was absolutely deee-lish and the staff was incredibly attentive. I think they took a particular liking to our guests from France, who had my Grandma cracking up all night with their fiesty antics.

Our bridesmaid with her boyfriend and our designated gong-ringer (more on that later!)

My parents gave Mr. CC a your-football-team-sucks type of t-shirt, which was delightfully random (at least this time they didn’t give us a lawn gnome like at our wedding shower! No offense, mom & dad!).

Mom-in-law, step-pop-in-law and Mommy French (Mr. CC’s grandmother who only speaks French)

Mama CC was most likely being her sassy self and picking on the best man in this photo.

My parents also gave us a gift that symbolized how Mr. CC and I met (a circle of friends candle), which made me smile muchos.

Mr. CC’s wee brothers proudly mastered how to use chopsticks by the end of the dinner, most likely due to boredom, since that evening was probably the longest they’ve gone without playing video games since they were in utero.

We decided to hand out our gifts to the parents while waiting for dessert, which I don’t think they were expecting.

Sister-in-law CC with one of our groomsmen, who I’ve been friends with since junior high and who made the trip up from Florida.

Rowdy French fam=Love!

Grandma CC was anxious to rip open her present, a framed engagement photo of Mr. CC and I.

For my parents, we gave them a framed engagement photo and a digital camera, since they have been using a 35mm camera from the stone age for the past decade.

Proud Grandma & Mama CC.

Grandma got a kick out of showing off our ugly mugs.

For Mr. CC’s parents, we gave them framed engagement photos and digital picture frames, which they could then display our wedding photos on.

Although I was mostly full of nerves on our wedding eve, it was really nice to not have to obsess over wedding planning for a little while, and just relaaaax. At one point, I turned to Mr. CC and giddily said “We’re getting married tomorrow!” and he squeezed my hand and smiled at me and it just felt so real.

Mr. CC’s dad gave a lovely speech during our dinner, welcoming everyone to be a part of the family, which was super sweet and made me a little vehklempt.

Brother CC & his wifey definitely assisted in keeping me sane during the wedding day.

Speaking of sane, my maid of honor Melanie was an absolute lifesaver! Whenever I started getting nervous about things going right, she was always one step ahead of me to make sure things were perfect. I can’t thank her enough!

This bridesmaid/groomsman duo got married on Halloween, just two weeks after us. It was an absolute pleasure being in each other’s weddings and having each other to fall back on during the planning process. We even plan to take our honeymoons to Italy together next fall, which will be a blast and a half, I’m sure!

A few minutes after this photo was taken, Mr. CC and I said our goodbyes, as Mr. CC headed home to our apartment to catch some zzzz’s (since he didn’t want to see me on the day-of). My family and I went back to our gorgeous hotel rooms at the Sofitel, where my brother & his wife had some unexpected drama - their hotel safe (which was full of their valuables) had malfunctioned and wouldn’t open, so the staff had to come and break the safe open. I decided to take a relaxing bath when I got back to my room, when I heard what sounded like chainsawing from down the hall until around midnight. It definitely distracted me from reciting vows and made me giggle during my zen bath time.
As soon as I shut the lights off to go to bed, Betty White (our dog) decided it was playtime and pounced my head, showing off her jumping skills on the fancy feather mattress. She woke me up around 4:30am, which is when I decided to give up on the notion of sleeping in a few extra hours, which may explain why I ended up being so forgetful and loopy on the day-of!
Did anyone else have trouble falling asleep without your significant other around on the eve of your wedding?
