Mrs. Glitter's Picture
Mrs. Glitter, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Accounting Engagement Date: May 6, 2007 Wedding Date: June, 2009 Venue: Millenium Biltmore Hotel About Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
About Mrs. Glitter

When I ended my last engagement post, I was confused, a little disappointed, and the new owner of a fake diamond ring. I was beginning to feel pangs of “If it happens, it happens; if it doesn’t, this relationship is in big trouble”. But I tried to be a good sport and finish the weekend off on a high note.

We woke up Sunday morning (my actual birthday and Mr. G’s last day in town) and took a long walk. It was nice to just relax and enjoy each others’ company. Later that afternoon, Mr. G stated that he wanted to cook dinner for us, and he wanted it to be a surprise. So he commanded me to stay in my bedroom and work on my studies for a couple hours while he went to the store and prepped the food. I sat in my room for what felt like an eternity. I think I even dozed off for a while. Regardless, he emerged much later and requested that I dress in certain clothes for his special dinner: one of my favorite white tops and jeans. I was thrown by his request, but definitely adhered to his wishes. The man was cooking me a scrumptious birthday dinner, who was I to complain?

When everything was finally complete and I was wearing the proper attire, Mr. G led me out into the living room with my eyes closed. When I opened my eyes, I was floored by what I saw. Mr. G had created a makeshift rendition of our first date: the restaurant where we ate (LaLa’s Argentine Grill) and the bar we went to after dinner (The Bungalow Club a.k.a. the site of Miss Meatball’s wedding reception!). I found out later that a few weeks earlier, he had gone to the restaurant and bar and taken a series of pictures of both places. He then had the pictures blown up to poster size and stuck them on the walls of my living room! As we sat down, I noticed that we were eating the same entrees and drinking the same wine we had on our first date. And, maybe you already guessed it, but we were wearing the same outfits we wore on that night.

As we sat down to dinner, I couldn’t help but feel elated that I had a man that cared enough to remember all of the little things that made up our first date together. I looked at him with love, but he appeared to be jittery and nervous, almost uncomfortable. As we finished dinner, I got up to clear the plates. He took my hand and started saying the sweetest things about our relationship and how much I meant to him. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was a surreal moment I will never forget as long as I live. And this time, the ring was the real thing.

Did you celebrate your engagement by revisiting a special moment in your past?  What was it?

so adorable! sidenote: I live right by LaLa’s and Bungalow Club. FH surprised me on our first anniversary by recreating our first date. I think guys are a lot more sentimental than we give them credit for.

So sweet, you are a lucky girl!

When my fiance proposed he got us a suite at a little hotel overlooking the water in the town where we met. He planned out the day according to some of our favorite memories. We had picnic on the beach with sandwiches from our favorite lunch restaraunt (it was our favorite date in college), he proposed on a secluded beach after our picnic, then took me to our alma mater where we met. Then we had dinner at our favorite dinner restaraunt.

Oh that is so sweet! Blowing up the pictures is such a unique touch. I really love how you were able to have a “restaurant” experience in the comfort of your own home. Remember what you both wore is amazing to me, Mr. Avo never remember little details like that.
