I Followed Directions…

December 12th, 2008 @ 5:01 pm by Mrs. Glitter

… and it worked! I read an interesting post on Weddingbee’s new sister site, WeddingbeePRO about how to take pictures of your wedding band and engagement ring. WeddingbeePRO is comprised of bloggers who are all wedding professionals within the industry. Their behind-the-scenes perspectives are proving to be super fun and helpful, too!

Check out Anne Ruthmann’s post on taking pictures of your ring. I had a few spare minutes to play around with my own ring. Here’s what happened when I used our Samsung point and shoot to snap a couple of pics.

This one was one of my favorites. Mostly because it wasn’t blurry!

I went crazy with the “contrast” option when editing this one. I wanted to try and achieve a funky, more edgy photographic style. (Listen to me trying to sound like I know what I’m talking about! Hahaha!)

I had so much fun doing this and it wasn’t hard at all. Give it a try… you’ll feel like a pro! Thanks, Anne Ruthmann of Anne Ruthmann Photography.

Your picture looks great!!

I wish Anne’s instructions had been around when Bee first posted a photo of her engagement ring. She got a comment that said, “YOUR RING IS GORGEOUS, BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN YOUR NAILS DONE BEFORE YOU TOOK A PICTURE OF YOUR HAND.”

We quote that line all the time around the Bee household!

@Anne: Like the title of the post suggests, I simply followed your fabulous instructions!! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us. :)
@Mr. Bee: Hahahaha!!!
@Mrs. Bee: Thank you! Definitely give it a try sometime!
@Anonymous: The majority of my pics were blurry. Don’t give up, some will come out clear. It helped me to balance the camera on a stack of books and steady my arm.

@Miss Glitter: can you share with us how long it took you to do this? I just saw a girl who did like 10 or more different set-ups with her ring, and I’m going to guess that it took her most of the day!! How about you?

@Anne: If you were talking about my setups it took me an hour max, if even that long. =D

@Lillindy: Whoa, very nice! I love all your background props. Very creative!
@Anne: It took me a couple of hours from beginning to end. I fiddled with a few background props and ended up using the gold top of a glass jar candle I had. Then the light was the trickiest part. My pictures kept coming out blurry or the light would fade out the entire shot. So I spent some time moving around our condo trying to catch the correct light. Once the camera was able to focus and the light was cooperating, it didn’t take long at all. It was really trial and error. I hope that helps others! By the way, Anne, I’ve had many comments on WB and my personal blog. You’ve inspired many to attempt to take pics of their rings!
