Realization…

(What our wedding “to-do” list is looking like right about now…)

We did it. We officially booked our limousine company. I felt like a major procrastinator in not booking the limos yet, but one day, I researched, emailed, and the next day, we chose a company. It’s crazy, because I felt like I still had something big left to do, and now, it’s all the little things from here! (A lot of little things, though! I just need to make a new “to-do” list!)

It’s so hard to look at a calendar and see what used to be 14 months away, is now almost 5 months away!

5 months! It’s absolutely nuts! Not that I cannot WAIT to marry Mr. Ballet Flat, but pretty soon, all this planning will be over. All my obsessing with the DIY details, making the large to-do lists, and budgeting will be over. I’ll walk away a Mrs. in 5 very short months, and it’s just amazing to me that this is all about to take place!

Since we are marrying in the Catholic Church, next month we are going on an engaged couples retreat. I’m a little nervous about that, because I have NO idea what we are in for. We didn’t do very well on the FOCCUS test at all, and I’m afraid the retreat will be just the same.

Then, later next month, invitations are going out! Eep!! It’s so crazy!

Have any of you brides reached a realization with your wedding countdown? Do you feel like you will have it all sorted out by the big day, or do you feel hopelessly behind on your to-do checklist?

I had a wedding-related epiphany a few weeks ago (and I remember seeing posts from Miss Lemonade and Miss Dumpling about similar “realizations”).

I’m not entirely certain what brought out mine, but I think it had to do with burning the planning candle at both ends, and starting to feel frustrated with, or just plain over the whole planning process. I felt like I was ready to be married and done with all this engagement stuff, and really, that was a sign that I had planned to the level of detail that satisfied me, and all I was doing was filling the rest of my time with wedding obsessiveness with no real pay off except eating up time that could otherwise be spent on things that made me feel normal, and not living in a vortex of nuptial madness!

I’ve backed away from too much “inspiration” oogling, and am spacing out wedding related DIY. Like you, I’ve gotten all the big stuff done, so now I’m just trying to stagger the smaller stuff so that I enjoy it, without it overtaking my life!

I went through phases. Some days I felt like I was really on top of it and other days we panicked. The worse part of was when we had about a month to go. Because we had to ship everything it needed to be done way in advance so that we could ensure it’s arrival in CA!

Don’t worry too much. Try to keep on top of it but don’t let it get to be so overwhelming that you can’t focus on the important stuff like you, Mr. BF and your marriage!

Behind, behind, behind! I want to get started on a lot of my DIY projects, but I’m having a hard time committing, which means nothing is getting done. Help! :P

Hopelessly, hopelessly behind. I’m 5 months out too, and I still have MAJOR things to check off my list, like a florist and videographer. And those little items keep piling up but I have to get the big stuff done first!
