Bee Levels

December 14th, 2008 @ 10:13 pm by Mrs. Bee

We added Bee Levels over the weekend!

Remember the Post Counts we added to boards a while back?  Now as your post count goes up, you can gain Bee Levels.  Here’s how it works:

Wannabee: 0 posts
Newbee: 5+ posts
Worker bee: 50+ posts
Helper bee: 200+ posts
Busy bee: 500+ posts
Bumble bee: 1000+ posts
Honey bee: 2500+ posts
Bee Keeper: 5000+ posts

We actually started testing this on Friday, and collected feedback over the weekend.  Chelseamorning and driftslikesmoke suggested some tweaks, so we added a new Level at 500 posts (before there were no levels between 200 posts and 1000 posts).  Hopefully that helps. :)

At first we thought Bee Levels would be just for fun… but it’s actually surprisingly helpful when reading the boards!  Wannabees are much more likely to be a spammer posting something tricky… and Helper bees are much more likely to be helpful.

Please note: post counts only count your posts and comments on the message boards!  Our boards software is different from our blog software, so there’s no easy way to count blog comments yet.  We’ll look into that over time.

I am humbled to admit that I am just a “worker bee”, with only 123 posts to the boards!  I’m going to make an effort to be more active on the boards.  We’ll be continuing to upgrade the boards over the next month, so they should get more and more active as time goes by.

Bumbly Yours,

Mrs. Bee (worker bee)

this is cute! and so motivating to post more.

i just wanted to let you know - i’ve noticed that my bookmark for my site comes up kinda funky. i bookmarked it when you gave the link where the first three entries would still have the “read more right here” option. well, using that url doesn’t have any of the weddingbee pro info on it and the bee icons don’t show up on entries. i just fix it by clicking the “blog” link as soon as i load the page, but i thought i’d let ya know.

This is great, Mrs. Bee…. quick question for you though — is there a reason that the names of the bees who make posts aren’t showing up in my Reader? Is that new? If so, I dont like it :(

@Mr. Bee ~ Can you do another update of how many bees there are at each level? That’s my suggestion to have that currently posted somewhere on the site. I think it’s fun!
