Disappointments are Hair Today

December 15th, 2008 @ 2:46 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

Start planning a wedding and it’s only a matter of time before something or someone disappoints you. I guess I’m pretty fortunate that I’ve been engaged for almost 12 months before my first significant disappointment came about.

This past Saturday, I had a routine appointment at my hair salon, just as I do (or at least try to do) every 8 weeks. I’ve been going there for a while now and I love it. They do a great job, I feel comfortable with them and, most importantly, I trust them. So of course, they were my #1 choice for bride and bridesmaid beautification on the wedding day.

Unfortunately, at my appointment, I was told they will not be able to accommodate my request to get me and my girls looking our best for the wedding. This is so disappointing!

(Deviled Egg Disclaimer: The DE wedding will be on a Sunday and my salon is not open on Sundays. They were willing to open special just for me if some of the staff members were available, which they are not. Bummer.)

Yes, I know it’s not the end of the world, but it still stinks. And, yes, I should be able to find other professionals who will be available on our wedding day, but I guess I had my hopes up that hair and makeup would be a gimme. It was just too easy thinking I could go with the people I know (and trust!) and skip the tedious research and uncertain hair trials.

But, if I have to subject myself to uncertain hair trials, I know it will be worth it in the end. If I did my hair myself, it would probably end up looking like this:

Yikes! Let the research begin!

Was your normal hairstylist able to accomodate you for your wedding day or did you have to seek our a new hairstylist for your day?

Bummer!! Did they by chance give you a referral for anyone else in the area? Maybe hairdresser friends?

Is there any change they could leave you on a waiting list in case anyone canceled? Or maybe talk to your personal hairdresser to see if you could hire her outside to come do everyone’s ‘do. She might be able to work with you more outside than the salon is really letting on.

She might even have a friend to bring along and help.

Maybe your stylists can recommend somewhere for you to go? Often they know other great people within the industry.

I’m having the same problem with having my wedding on a Sunday. I never thought about hairdressers being closed on the Sundays until after we booked our venue. Good luck with your search!

My hair stylist offered for me to fly her from New York to California but of course we opted for someone local :)
