Wedding Break 2008

December 15th, 2008 @ 11:16 am by Mrs. Snapdragon

A la Miss Martini, Mr. Dragon and I just got back from a five-day trip to Cancun. He had a business conference to attend in Mexico, and they allowed him to bring a friend, so… because he knew what was good for him, he took ME. :)

Mr. Dragon and I hadn’t been on a vacation together in about a year and a half, so we were due! My plan for the entire trip was to plant my booty on the beach and do nothing but read. Mission accomplished. In the days leading up to the vacation, I was so excited to get out of cold Chicago (we had a pretty significant snowstorm/cold front in the week before we left). However, I kept looking at the stack of wedding projects on my kitchen table and thought about how I needed to get them completed. December is my month to knock out a bunch of our big wedding tasks. January/February are horrifically busy for both Mr. Dragon and me every year, so that was my chance to get things done!

Once my feet hit the sand in Mexico, I didn’t care about that anymore though. We needed a break! We had a chance to reconnect as a couple and just loaf around – it was awesome.

A few pics from “Spring Break 2008″:
*All pics my own.

Can you guess why I loved the contents of our mini bar so much?

Mr. Dragon looking sexay! (Although he was actually saying, “Can we please get off the beach and go eat?”)

We went to this popular club called the Coco Bongo. The show was fun, but it was so crowded we couldn’t dance!

The resort made these fun drinks called Crazy Coconuts – they were actually really yum!

I was forced into taking this picture.

Yes, I had three drinks with my breakfast, and yes one of them was a Coke.

So we had a great time and did a whole lot of nuffin’!

Were any of you able to take time out to reconnect with your fiancé in the months before your wedding? Do you think it’s important in the midst of all the wedding to-dos or do you think it’s okay to save it for the honeymoon?

That’s okay, I drink Dr. Pepper and Coke for breakfast even when I’m not on vacation. :)

Sounds like a lot of fun! I wish I could do something like that, for it’s -40 (F and C!) with windchill, but alas, one must work. :)

Isn’t Mexican bottled coke the best? Way better than the American version, in my opinion!

@doctorgirl: I TOTALLY agree. It’s just a touch less sweet. And seriously, there is no better way to drink it than out of a glass bottle.

Looks so much fun! Where did you end up staying while you were there? The place looks really similar to where I spent my honeymoon & we had those coconut drinks, too!

@Lillindy: We were at Dreams Cancun – we found a little pool hidden away on the far side of the resort that was much less crowded than the rest of the hotel! They had weddings going on all week, too, which was fun!

I’ve heard great things about the Dreams resorts. I’ll have to check them out one day. (I wish it were tomorrow…)
