Today’s DIY rewind comes from Mrs. Licorice. Mrs. Licorice decided to take the plunge and buy a copy of Photoshop Elements so she could design her own Save the Dates. They turned out awesome! Not bad for a first timer, eh? Perhaps it will inspire you to invest in a design program as well! This DIY project was originally posted on July 30, 2007.

As a scrapbooker, I was excited to papercraft my own wedding stationery. I’m the traditional sort who loves patterned papers and glue. When looking for inspiration images to begin my own little Save the Date project, I had a change of heart. I began to love the look of computer generated designs. Hmmm….Perhaps it’s time to get… digital?

After much consideration, I decided to buy my very own copy of Photoshop Elements. The program itself is very user-friendly, so even someone like me can figure it out. I knew I wanted to incorporate a floral motif to compliment our rustic, outdoor ceremony location. Purchasing a digital brush through Two Peas in a Bucket and fonts from dafont and scrapNfonts, the design ending up having a vintage appeal. It was exactly what I wanted.
I bought Luxe White cardstock through Broadway Paper and Antique Gold envelopes from My Gatsby. I know that cardstock from Broadway Paper is a little more expensive than from other sources, but they had the exact paper I was looking for, Waste Not Paper. Their Luxe White is a softer white, and the texture is too die for! Sam Flax in Atlanta provided the printing services. Once they were printed, I just rounded the corners, and, voila! they looked like this:

I’m really happy with how they turned out!
