Trash the Dress… for Charity

December 18th, 2008 @ 5:11 pm by Mrs. Sushi

For all my Central PA brides, Wink 104 is hosting a “Trash the Dress for Charity”!

source

On December 20th at 12 noon the Crowne Plaza Harrisburg, along with the photographic genius of Scott Church, we will be hosting the first ever Trash the Dress event in Pennsylvania. Local brides and bridesmaids get your dresses ready to be photographed jumping into the pool at the hotel and dodging water balloons from across the room!

Participants who want to trash their dress pay $50. One half of the proceeds pays for a 11×14 ready to frame photographic print of the bride in her dress plus a CD full of images from the day, the other half will be directly donated to The Four Diamonds Fund and Penn State Children’s Hospital. Anyone over the age of 18 with a formal dress, (old prom dress, bridesmaid dress that can never be worn in public again) should plan to attend. Spectators are welcome to attend and encourage the dress destroying festivities. This time, there will be no stress…just a mess and amazing fun making it!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Scott Church a few years ago and he is awesome! You will not regret it!

Aw, I so wish I was home (I’m from Harrisburg) this weekend, but I won’t be back until next weekend. This sounds like a lot of fun, and a GREAT charity. And my dress is sitting all lonely in Harrisburg with nothing to do…

OMG I would love to do this! I have my prom dress hanging in the closet that would work perfect for this. But we’re going to Luray this weekend so I won’t be able to make it. :(

How fun is this?!?! And such a great cause. Seriously, the Four Diamonds Fund is the such a worthy cause. As a Penn State Alumni in my college years I did a lot of work with the Penn State Dance Marathon and the Four Diamonds Fund (I even have a tattoo of their logo on my back). The kids that are helped by the Fund are the greatest kids in the world and their families are SO greatful for all of the help and support they get while having to get their child through chemo. I wish I was already married and I would so be up there in my dress. Thanks for posting this!

Miss sushi, you rock for bringing this to everyone’s attention!

Another Penn Stater here, and I have to say if you’re considering this- do it! The kids are so sweet. The Four Diamonds Fund is a charity that helps the families of children battling cancer pay for things that insurance either can’t or won’t cover.

As Penn Staters who work the Dance Marathon say: it’s “FTK”- For the Kids!

@Miss Taffy: I wish I could be around to at least watch other girls participate in this, but I’ll actually be in NYC. If I had known about this first, I soooo would be there!

I wish I had a dress to trash!

Scott Church is a very, very talented man. His portfolio is extremely tasteful and one of a kind. My one friend had her boudoir photos done by him, and she cannot stop gushing about it.

Not to mention The Four Diamonds Fund! My high school hosted Dance-a-Thons my three final years and not only was it a great cause, but fun too :]

Does anyone know if this event is being hosted again? I also danced for THON my junior, just this past year, it is such a great cause. It is the only activity that I participate in. I encourage everyone to participate in this if it happens again.
