The Wedding Dresses of Today

December 25th, 2008 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Glitter

Today’s wedding market caters to individualistic design and values originality and creativity. Bridal couture, designer collections and independent designers are showing dresses that specifically appeal to the taste and style of the modern bride: elegant, feminine, chic sophistication. The modern bride desires a dress that complements her best features and makes her feel beautiful while remaining functional. We live in an age where anything goes and today’s wedding gowns reflect the need to keep things fresh and new while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of fashion.

Here is a sampling of gowns that I believe represent the wedding dresses of today. (If you can’t tell, I’m a big fan of vintage inspired dresses! Just lovely.) There are so many styles and designers out there now. It is up to the bride whether she has the time and energy to do the research. Just as I believe there is someone out there for everyone; in this day and age, there is a dress out there for every bride.

This is Augusta Jones’s Shania from the 2009 Collection.

Here is a Jenny Packham from the 2008 Collection.

This is Janet Nelson Kumar’s Mirandela from her Classics Collection.

What style of dress do you think represents the wedding dress of today?

@Wolff2Be: Thanks! I’ve been keeping my vintage-inspired dress a secret. I’ll be revealing it soon :)

I think it’s nice to see dresses with sleeves making their way onto the runway. It sounds like your dress is going to have a similar style to these and I’m really excited to see it!
