A New Toy

I had been resisting the series of ring shots the other Bees have been posting, but I can’t any longer. My big gift from my parents this Christmas was a Canon Digital Rebel XT. So, of course, I had to practice using it, as I have never owned a dSLR before. And what is there to take pictures of other than my cats and my ring?

Unfortunately, I don’t yet have a macro lens (I do have a wedding to pay for…), so I had to make do with the kit lens. I’m sure I’ll get better over time, but I didn’t think these were too bad for my first try with the camera.

This one is probably the best shot of the ring itself.

I really like this one with it on my Santa and Rudolph ornament.

And, of course, being the Nintendo fangirl I am, I took some with it on our Wiimotes.

I tried to take some pictures of it on my new iPhone (also a Christmas gift!), but none of them came out quite right, so I’ll have to keep practicing.

Did anyone else get new photographic equipment for the holidays, wedding or honeymoon?

Oh very nice! I’m so with you on the new DSLR, I got a Nikon D40X and I know how to point and shoot but I will surely be going to a Nikon School Seminar to learn everything I can because I want to take spectacular pics! Good Luck with your new camera!
