Let Them Eat Cake

December 29th, 2008 @ 12:11 pm by Mrs. Glitter

NancyKay’s Confections, a lovely cake shop in Los Angeles, has our business and they don’t even know it! You’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about. Well, let me explain. When we were booking our venue, one of the reasons the hotel won our business was by throwing the wedding cake into our catering package. Well, we took the bait… and one of our vendors got checked off the list without us having to lift a finger (just our checkbook!).

We had a number of bakery options to choose from, but we were most impressed by NancyKay. Here are a few options I found on NancyKay’s website that I find absolutely divine.

An Antique Cake: Simply adorable. It would go great with a vintage flair theme.

Spring Flowers Cake: I am obsessed with pretty flowers arranged on cakes. This is one of the prettiest I’ve seen.

Gold Cake: An ode to my desire to incorporate gold as a wedding color.

Peony Cake: Simple and lovely. Who doesn’t love peonies? Who doesn’t love cake? If your response is, “Me!” then this isn’t the cake for you.

As you can see, I’m all over the road in terms of cake aesthetics. It isn’t one of my biggest concerns, but a cake done right can be such a nice accent to your reception.

Which one of these cakes do you like the best? How did you decide on your own cake design?

I love the first one!
Our cake choosing was pretty simple. Hubs wanted a square cake because he said it was more “Wedding-y” than and round cake. So we had a 3 tier buttercream cake with a few red roses on it (to match my bouquet), and a bird cake topper made by my lovely MIL

The cakes looks great but, can we please not have any more cake related posts called “Let Them Eat Cake”? Let’s think of something new, please!

I love the first and second cake- beautiful! My cake was a traditional Italian Wedding Cake at the most traditional Italian Bakery in Los Angeles. It costs only $200 but was enough for over 150 people. It was very simple, but my bridesmaids put fresh flowers on it and it looked amazing! Plus it was the best cake I had tasted (and I had tasted them all!). To this day people still talk about my cake.

They are all beautiful, but the gold would be lovely with your reception location!

@Anonymous: Agreed, the title is a bit overdone. I’ll try and tap into my creative post title juices from now on. :)
@Connie Costa: How the cake tastes will be the #1 priority!! Glad yours was super yummy!
