Mrs. D'orsay's Picture
Mrs. D'orsay, Baltimore/Lancaster UK Age and Occupation: 24, Stay at home fiance (formerly in nonprofit communications) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Web site developer and designer; co-owner of men's skincare shop Engagement Date: August 10, 2008 Wedding Date: August, 2009 Venue: Oakland Manor About Me: I'm a Maryland raised environmental policy wonk/activist/organizer and communications aficionado. In the past year I've lived in Baltimore, MD, Tucson, AZ, Miami, FL and Lancaster, England. In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. I have an unnatural addiction to cheese and shoes, but love Mr. D' Orsay more than either and can't wait to become Mrs. D' Orsay!
About Mrs. D'orsay

Hello from Miss D’orsay!

December 30th, 2008 @ 4:23 pm by Mrs. D'orsay

Hello hive!

First let me just tell you how incredibly excited I am to become the newest bee! I’ve been following the boards for a few months and everyone’s advice is so helpful, clever and kind and I feel so lucky to be part of it all.

Second, I should let you know how rainy it is in England right now, seriously, avoid visiting in the winter!

I chose “Miss D’orsay” as my moniker because I have a slight shoe obsession, which is matched only by my addiction to cheese. That and as you can imagine Mr. D’orsay wasn’t a huge fan of being “Mr.Gloss” or “Mr. Lipstick”. I plan on wearing a saucy pair of purple D’orsays (D’orsies?) on my big day and would love to see all of your D’orsays as well!

I’m originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but in the past year I’ve lived in Tucson, Arizona, Miami, Florida and now Lancaster, England! During one of many many business trips I ended up in Austin, TX where I collided with an elbow that would forever change my life; the elbow in question belongs to an Englishman whom I’ll soon tell you much more about. He is the reason I have become a “stay at home fiancee” in an interesting, historic, rainy and surprisingly foreign country.

Yes, yes that is correct, we are in fact planning a US wedding approximately 7,500 miles away from a village in northern England. Oh, and yes, I certainly do plan on having somewhere around a million DIY projects, from turning wine bottles into vases and votives to creating pomanders out of tissue paper (don’t worry, that’s only 180 miniature tissue paper flowers to create). I hope you’ll join Mr. D’Orsay and I as we try to coordinate time zones, vendors, bridesmaid dresses and DIY projects all from a different country. Did I mention the pesky issue of immigration? Don’t worry because you’re certain to hear more about that!

Thank you so much for being such a fantastic hive and I’m so excited to be a part of it all!

Yours,

Miss D’orsay

Welcome to the hive! I look forward to hearing all about your wedding adventures.

I lived in England after college and feel in love with the country! I too found it surprisingly foreign, but quickly became addicted to tea. Are you a Tetley or PG Tips girl?

Finally! I’ve been wondering when in the world we would get a girl from the area writing here! (Out of all the bees I’m pretty sure only one - Mrs. Tulip - is from the D.C./Balto area). So glad you’re here!

@Miss D’orsay: Tetley with milk and sugar. I brought back 500 tea bags to tide me over until Mr. Cookie and I can get back to England. Although, my affinity for Tetley doesn’t mean we can’t be friends ;)
